...this roast sea bass dish from the Singapore thread probably needs a little explanation: the fish is filleted and served under a pile of dried chilis, peanuts, soybeans, quartered onions, and green onions in a bath of what tasted like a broth with sesame oil, water, garlic and black pepper corns...under the fish is a bed of delicious lobster/taro balls...an excellent meal and sides well Dinner-s__3711285-jpgDinner-s__3711287-jpgDinner-s__3711288-jpg...before and after pics: worth the $ (see bill)...

What she calls it. I think it's origins are in it's quite native original Thai taste, and doesn't include coconut milk. Real name is Kaeng Pa, normally with chicken or pork, though as M'Sahib doesn't eat meat, with pla.

...for Luigi (as requested): additional food pics...at a well-known harborside restaurant (Jumbo) we had shrimp in a pumpkin puree (fantastic!); deep-fried baby squid (terrible),va bowl of seafood fried rice (nothing new) and grilled large river prawns (delicious)...we didn't have the restaurant's signature dish (chili crab) as they're huge and we weren't in the mood to get elbows-deep in chili sauce...

I picked me a 1.25" thick aged T Bone today and kicked off the Songran week with a BBQ.

Firstly, Lightly spiced and let it come to air

Ahh the smell..... Seared for 3 minutes on each side then reduced heat.

Man was that delishio......Cooked to a perfect Medium.

Mussels in a white wine creamy sauce and a bit of bread to mop it all up.

After 5 days with no more than 1/2 a plate of soup and one of Loy Toys wife's' lasagne I managed to eat most of this. Pork chop, baked potato and crushed carrot and swede ( Rutabaga).

Lovely peppery swede.... hadn't tasted it in years.

Songkran I like to cook. Chicken fajitas with salsa cruda guacamole and chips. A lot of ingredients from scratch. Chicken, onions, red bell, green chilies, lime, tomatoes fresh and tinned, spice mix of chili cumin paprika garlic powder and corn masa. Add some nice avocados and chips along with some crispy icebergDinner-p_20180412_152521-jpgDinner-p_20180412_151354-jpg

Damn it finally turned hot. The kitchen is the only room in the house without air conditioning. Debating whether to do the barbecued spareribs, cajun potato salad, and southern style pinto beans tomorrow or Saturday as I just had a third shower...

Exercise early, chill away from the heat and then barbecue, nice routine on a long hot holiday. Every day 630am at Suan Somdet Ya for 9k jogging. 4 laps around the lake.

Got the salsa and fajitas made up. Let them rest until the wife gets home and makes a batch of margeritas. I have to whip up the guacamole as well. Snacks drinks and assembly in a few hours.Dinner-p_20180412_163501-jpg
