You really need to join the modern world and buy a new phone. The food I imagine is good but the pics suck.

I hate dimley lighted restaurantsing.
I'm still curious, is this Thai holidays or International School holidays?
I haven't been near a kitchen in seven weeks but as soon as I got home today I climbed straight back on that horse. I would have preferred not to of course but the fridge was empty so before I even unpacked, a trip to Makro was in order.
Married life.. don't ya just love it.
Anyway, first meal of the trip home... Shepherd's pie.

I'll wager that's the first veg fired down me daughter for a couple of weeks...
The new salt and pepper pots are just for show... all of our damp salt seems to be too coarse to fit through the Arab wife's head and we have no ground pepper. I have no idea why I bought an Arab salt and pepper set at DBX... alcohol maybe?
I've always found that stuff like this provokes conversation at dinner parties but in the 25 years I've lived in Korat we've yet to have a single dinner party, and I don't really have any friends here anyway.
The daughter did at least ask why I'd bought, and I quote, a 'Jesus salt and pepper set'. So mission accomplished... conversation provoked.
And the money shot...

Dan smelt the lamb and called in. She has aged terribly in the seven weeks I've been away and in that time has developed cataracts in both eyes. She's nearly sixteen and I'm not going down the road of endless interventions to help her live longer. She's still happy now and I'll take her to the vet next week to help ease her life... but the time is obviously approaching.
It's fantastic to see the respect the younger dogs give to Dan. Maya stands back... no way would she steal off Dan, but she easily could. Dan can hardly stand these days and she's lost all her muscle mass. I've bought her an England top for the world cup at the end of the year but I think she may have to hand over the mantle before then.

She left her peas, the naughty girl...

double peas. its great Dan has hung in there, bless her.
Is there anything at all going on in Korat?
I will be passing through in a few weeks time on my looooooong drive home and at Korat is at 280km along the way at 4hr 21min out of 1505km and 20hrs 12 mins.
Seems like a reasonable first stop.
I'll pass on the dinner party dress rehearsal though, Jesus is already judging my salt intake.

It’s almost time, Dan. She’s lived a good one.
Sorry Dirk, I wasn't ignoring your question but desperately trying to think of something to do here.
I believe there is a candle festival once a year although I've never made it myself, and there is also a lake that people seem to enjoy walking around. Oh, and we get fireworks on New Year's Eve.
The main weekend entertainment seems to be a trip to one of the three shopping malls we have. Yes, it's that bad.
You're more than welcome to stop here for the night but I'm going to be away mid July through to mid August, although I'm sure the gardener would make you feel welcome.
If it was me... I'd drive another 4 hours to Bangkok and spend the night there.
No worries mate, might catch you for a beer before you go away.
I'm thinking 4-5 hour early morning drives so I can explore my stopovers day and night.
Korat seems conveniently placed.
Udon
4 hr 42 min (310.5 km) (probably stopover in Khon Kaen)
Korat
4 hr 49 min (358.0 km)
Kanchanaburi
3 hr 17 min (214.6 km)
Hua Hin
6 hr (447.2 km)
Surat Thani
4 hr 40 min (324.6 km)
Songkhla
I'll be traveling solo so anything can change.
Anyway, wrong thread, I'll make a new one for this.
^ Get one of your motorbikes shipped up to Udon by train. Make a good ride out of it.
^ That's a good idea.
He could also ship someone up to drive his car back.
No need to. Long term parking at the airport. Next contract fly up. Perfectimo. :-)
And let's be clear, there's only a few people I would allow to ride my bike up here, and there's all dead.
