    Beer battered fish and chips.

    Dinner-whatsapp-image-2021-06-26-6-a

Except my daughter decided she didnt want battered fish, so I did hers in the pan in butter, with a sprinkle of dill. And then they both decided they didnt want homemade chips they wanted frozen chips. So back down to the shops I went, and got some frozen chips.

They enjoyed theirs, I enjoyed mine.

I forgot to get a lemon while I was in the shop...

Could she substitute prosecco and soda for babycham, bro?
She could if she's even gayer then her husband.

Tell her to get some scrumpy down her neck!

You didn't explain your disappointment in their choice in the proper terms....

Dears, frozen french fries were created by radical French partisans in order to maintain their culinary take over of the food world. Luckily us stout-hearted Brit and Brit like people stepped in and in a resounding voice said "No to the frozen French!!! I can only begin to thank my ancestors for their stand against frozen food....unless it could take a shit before giving up its life to our sustenance."

More or less, I was too busy enjoying my proper fish n chips. The secret to a crunch that lasts, use 3/4 plain flour 1/4 rice flour.

In his defense...sometimes you have to pick your battles. But going out to buy frozen chips because that's what they prefer? Simply scandalous on a food thread, though credit is deserved for the honest admission of being completely spineless.

That looks good. I am in the mood for some now.
What type of fish did you use? Buck in the states I always used cod. but I have not seen any here. (Haven't really looked for) , I am not keen on the Tilapia and Swai 'cause I watched a documentary about the fish farms a while back and it was not good. What are your thinking on that? What fish filet do you suggest I get from Macro?
I like to make some this week.

PS: for the fries I use a French fry press. it has two size cutters. You simply clean a potato, you can do skin or not skin, place it in the press, and in a second you have fresh French fries.
I don't have a picture of mine , below is a stock picture from Lazada.

There's good and bad everywhere. I read a scathing article recently about the Tasmanian wild salmon industry recently, so hard to know what is best. I go with a balanced approach, a little of everything.

'fraid I no longer know what Macro stocks. I used to prefer shopping at Villa anyway.

Many many moons ago my father bought one of those French fry presses for my mother as her birthday present. To say my mother was unimpressed would be an understatement. My father couldn't understand why she wasn't over the moon with her present.

All I could do was laugh. I still remember the incident 50 years later

I think the dark stuff (probably dark green) is mint jelly. Yellow looks like English mustard.

That was my thought...but it does look like grape jelly. Maybe any port in a storm sort of thing?

Do you order from the kids' menu when you go in a restaurant, Willy?

The lamb looks lovely, but I'd still be Hank Marvin if I ate the portions you ate!
