It was technically lunch but shall post here.
Th Regency Cafe in London's Pimlico area is a great start to any day. A really famous traditional 'caf' that has been opened since 1946. Loads of films have been shot there, most notably, the scene in layer cake where Morty knocks the fuck out of Freddy.
^ I'm planning to visit London with my daughter this summer and have just added the Regency Cafe to our itinerary. Thanks, Bonecollector!
^No worries gov, she will love it! She will love the landlady shouting out the orders when they are ready. Don't forget you don't/ can't sit down until you have made your order and paid.
It is a great starting point for a walk through Westminster, up by Parliament and No.10, then onto Trafalgar Sq, up the strand and to Covent Garden/ Leicester Sq for a show maybe!
^ Nice one BC!
It sounds like you know London... I haven't been there for over 20 years and I'm sure it's going to be a bit different to Korat.
I'm planning a 3 day trip to London as part of our 'England tour' and so far am thinking of one of those open-topped double decker buses for a touristy trip, the Natural History Museum in Kensington and maybe the Tower of London / Buckingham Palace, etc. I'm also hoping to take in a couple of typical London pubs (so long as they have wifi for the daughter). It all makes me a bit nervous as I won't even know how to get on a tube train.
I don't suppose you could recommend a suitable hotel in a central area to all the touristy stuff?
Maybe I should start a thread because I don't want to derail the Breakfast thread.
^
in a similar predicament
London Pass looks good value for 2 days
cant help with brekky or hotel though (we stayed at wembley which i wouldnt recommend)
I know what you're thinking, and no this isn't from a 5star hotel I actually made it.
Looks like the first thing you did with your knife was to scrape he burnt bits off your toast.
^Very creative...reindeer?
We have unseasonably cold weather here in Korat just now... it's gone from unbearably, stiflingly hot and humid to a wintry, cold and rainy within a day. It went down to 20 degrees today and I had to turn off the car aircon and wear a jacket for the school run.
So what better than porridge before school.
As an aside, I had to open a new tin of Lyle's Golden Syrup to enable our breakfast at 6:30 am this morning. I noticed it was a bit black around the rim as though it had been leaking a bit, but pressed on. When I prized the top off with a spoon there was a loud bang as the tin exploded and, the top narrowly missed my face and hit the ceiling before landing on the floor in a black, sticky mess. There was a splattering of black Golden Syrup across the floor within a 4 metre radius of the incident and I later found splashed of Golden Syrup on my forehead and across my glasses. I was lucky not to lose my face.
I threw out that tin and opened a newer one with no incident. Just a warning... it was like a bomb going off.
Yeah it's *so* cold in BKK that I bought corned beef ready to make a hash (of it) this weekend. Proper winter food.
^^Should have used honey.

^^I feel your pain, 20oC!
^ nice nice
Mendy Noi is a child... she agrees with anything her father says. That's the way it works around here.
I have to go to work on Monday so promised that I'd spoil the daughter for my last weekend home. Sadly Messrs Fray and Bentos thwarted my plans and Saturdays morning's breakfast was the worst I've had for some time.
The plan was for mango and lime smoothies with an All Day Breakfast pie, something I've been meaning to try for some time.
An uncooked Fray Bentos pie never looks that good so I still wasn't put off at this stage.
And to be honest it looked pretty damn good after 30 minutes in the convection oven.
After 16 years of living in Isaan I can have a go at eating most things but this was absolutely disgusting. I tried to liven up the All Day Breakfast pie with a fried egg, but at risk of being called fussy by Ootai, this was inedible. I even thought twice about feeding it to the dogs.
The only good thing about this breakfast was that I now have another tin to feed our baby pigeons from. Fray Bentos make great tins.
