Lets make a fresh cream sponge

Ok today my boss has given me an unexpected day off and I have been rained off in my veg garden so its into the ol kitchen again .
Today I am gonna share with you my fresh cream sponge.

Quite easy even I can do it , but delicious !

    Ok ingredients 200 g good quality marg/butter
    200 g caster sugar ( sieved )
    200 g self raising flour
4 level teaspoons of cake viagra ( baking powd ) 4 free range eggs
Lets begin , oven on to 170 deg ( fan oven )
Now because I only have the one cake tin this size we exactly half all the above and make 2 seperate batches .
Our ingredients all ready , grease + line the base of a 10 inch square cake tin ,, grease the paper to , good tip

Fat and sugar in bowl ,,

Give it all a bloody good stir round , nice and light

Untill it looks like this ( no dont eat a bit now )

Whisk up your eggs seperately ( just incase accident with shell )and add to your mixture in the bowl , dont worry about a bit of curdling keep winding it it slowly .

Now GENTLY stir the flour in adding 2 teaspoons of the baking powder to this mix.

There we are all ready spooned in the tin about to go into the ol furnace . 30 mins at 170 deg

mmmmmmmmmm that baby smelling good .
Now as mentioned before as I only have the one cake tin whilst this baby is cooking away we make the second mix ,, same same .

30 mins on and the first layer is on the cooling rack ,, second mix is allready in the oven .

Whilst thats cooking I add some caster sugar to my fresh double cream .

Whisk untill my 25bht knife from the market can stand up in it

Spread with love on the first cool half then when the other half is cool enuf lightly dust with sieved icing sugar and decorate , I know from his food posts the boss here shares an interest so I decorate my cake in his honour ( whatacreep ) there are others on here

Well big respect to TD enjoy .
Now remembering your liking for a bit of fresh cream LT below I have set aside a slice just for you and allthough a man from down under I am sure you will enjoy it with a steaming mug of English Tea .

All yours LT enjoy everyone cheers !

I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

I thought this was gonna be a gay thread...

The sponge looks very nice; should the strawberries be cut and inside?

Yummy. yummy. I don't like strawberries - they give me a rash. But the cream and a nice light cake. Yummy. Yummy...

Off to play with a toddler and his mama...

Why would baking be gay ? I have met a drunken baker , but never a gay one .

Next week were off to Scotland for a holiday , I,m gonna do a pic thread and will try not to make it too "gay " ,however I do plan to show a pic of a good ol traditional scottish cake shop .

    I

i'd love to get a slice of that cake-and i can taste those strawberries-
    nothing gay about baking

However that plate is well poncy
its the type those celebrity nancy boy
    TV chefs use,
they always add a drizzle of something in a swirly pattern on the plate too,
at least you have not done that
    but still.....
    you lose 200 man points

Blue me ol matey let me explain about our choice of crockery , I know this will come as a bit of a suprise to you northeners but down here we have moved on from " Eternal Bow " style crocks ,,, however if you have any pieces missing from your tea service I can pick plenty of it up down here to replace anything missing ,, the boot sales are full of it

I must admit though the square cups are not the best things to drink from, but its interesting to watch guests trying their best not to cover their best shirts in coffee

Even better to alternate layers with a fresh strawberry fused gelatin and cream.

Why thank you. I am a pretty good cook, so I will take that as a compliment.

You on the other hand are a knob, irrespective of cooking ability.

Is it not time you flounced back to SZ?

Or are you still on a flounce from there?
