I told her what I paid for each one and she was horrified. She watched me cook them and she said that if you served that to me I would send it back or be sick. Even more horrified.

We've had this conversation before (AO was involved) and I put it down to a generational thing. She grew up when they still had worms in their food in post-war Britain.

The villa complex has a pretty strict no BBQ mandate, which is a bit shit.

Reckon the security lads would be okay, they get passed a bottle of scotch every few months they seem happy with.

There is one old grumpy Swiss fok 2 abodes down that makes a point of blocking his ears if he's outside and I go past on the 650.

And a Thai family in a house near the entrance that don't seem to be our biggest fans. We later learned they tried to buy the villa before us, so the 2 grandparents could stay in their house and the parents and kid could move to the villa, but they couldn't afford. In waltzes Edmond, buys it with cash, renovates it superbly, then deafens them every time 'e rides to the shop. Not sure why they seems a bit frumpy with us.

Anyway, Edith messaged saying she's buying a 'pot BBQ' for the end of the veranda to see how things go.

Might as well see if I'z can pick up a rack o ribs and maybe some chicken pepper skewers to pop its cherry tomato.

    Presuming they'll fit.

I wasn’t supposed to bbq on my last place. Managed to get away with it. I mostly slow cooked things with the lid on (ribs, burgers and chicken) and left the tomahawks etc to other locations .

I haven't gone through this many tissues since we got the internet installed at age 13.

Today's task, go buy some lighter fluid.

Discretely.... sorry LD, discreetly hidden from view at the back corner of the veranda.

Ribs were slow cooked in foil for 2 hours first and fell off the bone.

    Thumbs up all round.

For a post 1.5 hour cycle hit of protein today I went for a variation of Kor Moo Yang.

Did up a baste using a Larb mixture.

Juicy and far far tastier than it looked.

Once I don't burn the place down or get frog-marched out by Gunther the Swiss Koont it's all good.

Taking a bit of a sabbatical from afternoon fight training/study activities until the new year, so thinking of doing a post cycle BBQ every weekday for an early lunch.

    Ribeye + potato salad x 2

Kor Moo Yang variation x 1

Chicken, pepper, onion skewer x 2. One done Mexicana style with a chili, paprika, cumin, oregano and lime juice baste, and one done Indian style with a curry powder, masala, chili, cumin, coconut milk baste.

    Worse homemade lunches out there.

    ^^^

Great stuff. Never really been into BBQ's myself, but always tempted when I see good end results. Saw an interesting idea the other day, using rosemary stalks, stripped of most of the leaves (leaves obviously used elsewhere) and the stalks used as skewers. Obviously quite small but the flavour hit was apparently notable.

    ^ clever.

Just picked up some coriander for tomorrow's post-cycle Mexicana skewers.

Diced chicken and peppers marinaded and basted in chili pwdr, cumin, paprika, garlic, oregano, coriander and lime juice for a few hours. Skewered with onion added.

BBQ'd and served with a diced tomato, garlic, coriander and lime juice salsa.

    Forgot to get jalapenos.

I don't think the coriander stalks would be strong enough.

Bit shy with the chimichurri, IMHO, but as you like.

Chimichurri is one of my favourite condiments. I enjoy it with any sort of meat, and even with fried fish.

Enjoyed a Sunday steak yesterday afternoon. We ate them Korean BBQ style (sliced and placed into leaves of lettuce or seaweed, with some Kim chi, Korean spicy sauce, and a slice of toasted garlic).Washed down with some craft beers.

Wee pot was given a bit of a Thai test.

Never been a fan of cooking shrimp while they're still alive and doin a bit of a Riverdance.

I could probably protest by refusing to eat them.

But they're far too tasty for that sorta nonsense.

I guess those with higher education are aware all smoked food is carcinogenic.

Of course if you smoke hardly matters

If of low education, shop at paragon, ride hoors and or motorcycles without protection indulge in inhaling city smog you don't need to worry.

Grilling can create cancer-causing chemicalsWhen cooking over high heat, especially an open flame, you are exposed to two main carcinogens: heterocyclic aromatic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Studies show HCAs and PAHs cause changes in DNA that may increase the risk of cancer.

    Keep digging

I am not a Brit as regular readers with unimpaired members know

I only eat Linda McCartney vegetarian flip flops

I have partaken of beans which are almost unavoidable at breakfast as a guest in Surrey

1 out of 3 not bad, though get back to me when you had MM's remedial Engrish workout

I know you mean well and strike out in a humorous kindly way for mirth and frivolity , you need more greens so I will send you one unlike Willy who is just a soubriquet for knob switch or dick
