^^ To be honest mate, my mum makes a Sherry trifle with proper whipped cream that knocks the socks off anything else I've ever had. I sometimes use these Bird's Trifle Kits and they don't even come close.
No don't go there just buy one.. my dad long dead now used to make a kick ass trifle every Xmas. Wonderful.
It is looking like a hefty heavy-weight but I feel up to the challenge

I was actually on the scout for another British fruit trifle when I was seduced by this cheeky little Latin American pretender. But now that I have thrown down my $25 there is nothing for it but to work my way through before I head back to the trifle aisle
This sounds like a plan. I am wondering of I can excavate a tunnel down the side of a Coles fruit trifle and then do a covert insertion of a quarter bottle of sherry (or maybe even Southern Comfort! - although I was planning on relegating the southern comfort to pudding lighter fuel for Christmas day given as how it is not measuring up to the lofty heights I was advised by our merkin brethren)
Father Christmas brought my daughter a waffle maker, which was pretty lucky because I like waffles.

We Christened it today. Strangely enough it makes waffles with a black rim around the edges which also tasted a bit funny. I'm wondering if I should have given it a good wipe down before making the first waffles?

Those trifles had me licking my lips, haven't had a decent one since my mum died.
Anyway, I decided to do a fruit flan for the children at Christmas. I suppose I should call it an Obstboden, since the flan pan came from Germany, as did the Tortenguss.

The sponge turned out okay, could have been a bit lighter but the children were happy enough. I used nutella to seal the sponge before adding the fruit, can use angel delight as well if you like. I will do the same for New Year, but add some whipped cream if I can find a piping bag.
^ I like flans Troy, but I've always preferred a tart!
Anyway, with the onset of New Year I sadly bid farewell to the pudding thread, along with the 'What are you drinking?' and 'Dinner' threads and just about any other thread that means enjoyment. Yes, his time I am really gonna sort things out.
But first, a New Year's apple, mango and strawberry crumble. With some sloppy custard!

^ No, but I can remedy that during next summer's UK trip.
Yesterday was Children's Day, so as a treat I gave the daughter full rein to design the pudding of her choice.
She came up with an unusual combination but I was happy as the tin of strawberry custard had been in the cupboard for a couple of years and I wanted to get rid of it.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating of course. The daughter enjoyed it but I would have preferred a Golden Syrup steamed pudding with normal custard.

The puddle of milk surrounding the cake itself is actually stored in my wank bank. :)

Not since primary school, but I seem to have a hankering for it this past day or two.
^Have not had semolina in donkey's decades but you have given me a nostalgic hankering. I wonder if you can buy it tinned.

Lined the stomach with a mixed plate of Tandoori and spicy Satay since going straight for the pudding seemed a bit uncivilised. Shared one plate of curry to leave room for the main course

Mate round, so cheese but not a lot ready, some Keans cheddar, Sparkenhoe blue and a little welsh goatee with some bread and EVOO, caramelised onion chutney and piccalilli washed down with Blandys Madeira.
