Armed Spiny Eel

Common name: Armed spiny eel
Scientific name: Mastacembelus armatus Gunther
Size: Up to 24 inches (60 cm), but often smaller
Feeding: (Carnivore) Small Eels relish bloodworm and brine shrimp (preferably frozen) and small earthworms. Larger Eels like larger earthworms also frozen prawn and cockle and shrimp are taken, can be fed by hand.

Climate: Tropical; 24 - 28?C
Distribution: In Asia, from Thailand and Cambodia to Indonesia.
Tank Set-up: Freshwater: Plants, driftwood, sand substrate
Behavior: Under aquarium conditions individuals tend to spend daylight hours in a preferred shelter spot.
