I'll have to assume that you've never tasted a real beer.Originally Posted by kingwillyhggtb
I'd have to agree here, though I have different brands in mind than you do, MtD.
^ I would guess you're more of a German style beer fan. There's not a bad choice in Thailand for that type of beer. Too gassy for me though.
^You'd prolly like this aussie beer marmers..
Simular to the way I know you like your beer AND your women. Dark and rich ......found it hard to buy in aussie pubs last time i was home. maybe it's because of the heat that dark beers are not popular in oz....
I agree that many of the beers on the market there are shite these days. Carlton Cold, and the beer they call "ice" is disgusting. Tastses like chemicals...
Marmite fancies Condellina Rize, Bush right hand woman?Dark and rich
Sick fucker.
I like an English Bitter.
That dark ale could be a German style dunkel or a stout. I doubt if it is what I like to drink. As much as I like Australia, the beer there is generally terrible.

well, I am not a committed beer drinker, but I do have a little glass now and then, and then
I suppose in Thailand I drink Singha most of the time. It is a good beer with a nice flavour. It is a bit strong but as I only drink a few, that's no problem.
In London, if I drink bottled beer I try to have Budhvar, the real Czech family beer (not that pee Budveisser stuff)
Last night though was a real bitter night
drunk at cellar temperature (warm to you frankie), it is a live beer, delicious and creamy with a good head. Youngs and Fullers are the two famous London brews, but you can get many others from all over the country. I think it does not travel well, and try to have a local brew.
In fact, one of the joys of going around England is finding out what the local ales are like. Abbot Ale, ahhhhh!
I have reported your post
If Thailand did not have beer I could not live here.
No it isn't. It's terrible.Originally Posted by DrAndy

Bet you don't remember that statement MTD?Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

a good beer, will show it's best flavor when it has warmed up a bit, not "warm" but not ice cold either.Originally Posted by DrAndy
We had a pub in berkeley called Barclays, They served a few beers at cellar tempurature the lift-type hand pump for Guiness too. They spcialized in craft brews from all over the west coast.
With a new beer I like to open it ice cold and taste let it warm a bit see how thngs develop.
Bought a bottle of Coopers stout this after noon (along with two bottles of Chaang for the buzz, later).
Gimme a minute and we'll see how she tastes...
I like that part!!Originally Posted by friscofrankie
This beer is loaded with flavor. It tastes like a Stout should taste robust; with that slightly, bitter burnt caramel/charcoal flavor I've come to associate with a decent dark beer. When pouring, I was dismayed to see the absence of any head what-so-ever. And, to be prefectly honest, was surprised that the flavor was neither flat nor watery. A beer without a head, kinda like the US government these days, eh?
While still robust and flavorful I like to see a nice head of creamy foam on a beer like this and was tempted to stir one up. The first sip was a tad too sharp, I like a bitter edge but in a dark beer I expect that edge to be somewhat more subtle. After a few mnutes I am happy to report the edge is sublter, and I regret buying only one single bottle.
By counting my baht and working a deal on exchanging the Chaang I think i might just be able to afford a couple more fo these, Good alcohol content. After one beer I feel a very slight buzz. This beer would go very well with some crusty bread and strong cheese, maybe a rueben sandwhich with some horseradish and brown mustard.
it has strong flavor and while not a summer days cold drink it certainly does well drunk after it's ahd a chance to come up a few degrees. although it lacks a head there is nice play of carbonation on the tongue.
I like this beer.
Next I'm either gonna have to try that Ozzie Sparkling Ale or some german Wheat beers. "Sparkling Ale" sounds like something served in a Fern Bar. WTF, one bottle won't make me a poove, will it? Wheat beers? One question, Why? I've heard there is a moderate selection of beers at Tops. Gonna have to check that out. In mean time I will definitely buy a few more of these. I call Coopers stout a "good, albeit headless beer."
frankie,i would hazard a guess and say you would be a Sierra Nevada drinker?.
If you ever come accross any beer from the Brooklyn brewerys(doubtful)give them a try, they have a bunch of different types and they are all pretty damn good.
Not much for Sierra nevada They've a got a couple a decent brews but i prefer Lagunitas brews, more a local, bay area brewery. Theres a place in hayward, called Buffalo Bills, think I've mentioned it before, serves a dark ale, 6.5% alc. always pick up a half gallon growler when i'm there. Food's screamin' too!
Fullsail Amber is nice. Fullsail "Oktoberfest" is great. Red hook ESB goes well with shots of 1800; but the best US beer for me is "Ballard Bitter Pale Ale" was a local beer in the Seattle Area, bought to you by the folks that made Red Hook, which; sadly is now owned by the same folks that produce Budweiser. When last I checked they hadn't fucked up the good brews, been a while now not real optimistic. Barcalys in Berkeley would get a keg once ever month or two.
I ever get back to the states gonna spend week drunk, on Tasmanian Ale at Buffalo Bill's. right after I smoke an OZ of California Weed.
i've had Red Hook IPA,pretty easy to drink, a nice crisp taste.
The beer i would most like to get my hands on is Delirium Tremors http://www.beermania.be/sales/delirium_tremens.htm
Just as good in bottle's as it is from draught, has a strange habit of making me go to bed with fat wimmin though.
The goion' aint so bad it's the gettin up that's a motherfucker.
drinkng Ouzso and ballard bitter, in Olympia Wa. one night. Went home with this chick, 'bout 180, 5'6" wearing loggers boots levis and a flannel shirt (least they were layin on the floor when I woke up). Woke up, told her I got her number off the phone, would def. call her. Slipped the mooring lines an stayed anchored off an island in the sound for couple weeks, (she was one of them scary ones) never drank ouzo and ballard bitter together again, had to been the booze's fault.
I think with a stout from a bottle you should just throw it in the glass rather than try to pour it nicely.Originally Posted by friscofrankie
