We ended up on a different Ferry than the one over, still 520 baht for the return leg.

This had a great outdoor area so we hung there. Really nice trip back.

    Yes, that's the go.

There is a time and place for everything in this life my friend and those 30 baht a night bungalows were awesome when i was in my 20's hangin on the beach smoking mull 24-7.

But unfortunately I'm not in my 20's anymore and those huts just don't fooking crack it.

The second part of this thread will be about the run back up to BKK following the brilliant beaches Starting at Thung Wua laen Beach in Chumphon. The road hugs the coast to just outside Hua Hin. Its a brilliant drive with some great overnight spots which are mainly local. Stay away from the main Hwy 4 and go inland for a very nice experience. I've done this trip a few times now and consider the beaches along this route to be some of the finest mainly tourist free within Thailand. The run from Samui up to this beach just outside Chumphon was 270 KLM. Stay here.

Yes, this a fine beach on a nice day, mainly vacant in low season.

    ^^

Prachup khiri kan should shut up shop and not let anyone in. It's one brilliant place.

Full moon last night, in Pratchup that means heaven.

    You're a lucky guy.

Don't be a Muppet, do not go on a weekend, public holiday or high season. This place will be all yours.

I love these old time local shops, always great food mainly and full of atmosphere. The last few pics are from a previous trip.

I'd love to go back to Samui. I had some great hols there. Friends have told me "my hotel" has been poshed up and the price has tripled.

They even built a pool, who needs a pool when you have the sea?!!

    Great thread, as usual, Terry!!

Good stuff Terry...yea Praachuab is the place for me. Great drives down the cost from there, not too worried about overdevelopment, capital of the province and most of the land belongs to the government (army / airforce).

Rumours about that the hi speed boat from Pattaya to Hua HIN is making a come back, we don't want that, keep all the johns over the water where we can keep an eye on them.

So when ya leave this beach ya just keep turning right and never veer back onto the main Hwy until you are nearly in Hua Hin. Get a road map, A GPS and you are in for one fooking brilliant drive. You will see the following signs along the way.

I reckon that because it is controlled by the Government it remains in a time warp which is brilliant.

Secondly, the farang trash continue to remain in Hua Hin which is equally brilliant.

You will come across some very nice spots, I just pull over when I see one.A road trip is not a race, it's all about going slow and sucking in what this great drive has to offer. This looked interesting and a flash back back to the 80's. Island time.
