pointless act
Suspect the people who get injures or killed rarely have anything to do with the bomber's issues
Fully agree - hope everyone here profits this year following such a string of bad years. But it's pretty obvious that this is NOT the Reds doing this - why would they choose pedestrian targets?
We all know who's doing this. So do most of the Thais - except the brainwashed upper middle classes (who think they're rich 'cause they're smart' and ignore grandpa's connections - he, he..)
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

TS, if you know, perhaps you could assist the police with their investigations. Thanks mate.
Of course it's not them Tom, it is the amart who wants to scare international visitors like tourists and business investors and cut down a bit on the queues of all overbooked hotels. They'll profit big from each new bomb attackOriginally Posted by Tom Sawyer

CRES rejects call to lift decree

Ministry wants return to normal in Northeast
The Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation has rejected an Interior Ministry proposal to lift the state of emergency in three more provinces in the Northeast.

PATTARACHAI PREECHAPANICH
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, who is in charge of national security and the CRES chairman, yesterday brushed aside a recommendation by Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul that the state of emergency in Khon Kaen, Udon Thani and Nakhon Ratchasima be revoked.
Mr Suthep said the CRES will meet on Oct 4 to consider whether the emergency decree should be lifted and in which provinces.
Until then, security officials would assess security in provinces where the state of emergency remains in place, as the government wants to know what is going on.
In some provinces, red shirt sympathisers are still active, he said.
Apart from Bangkok, the emergency decree is imposed in Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen and Udon Thani.
He said the Interior Ministry can recommend the lifting of the state of emergency but it must comply with CRES requests that it assess security.
Mr Suthep is not ruling out the possibility that the emergency decree might be revoked before Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva travels to attend the Asia-Europe summit in Brussels in October. But Mr Suthep said security in certain provinces is precarious and a resurgence of unrest is likely if the emergency decree is lifted there. The government will not rush things.
Ronnachai Kongsakon, who heads a subcommittee in charge of compensation and rehabilitation for people affected by the recent political violence, said the panel is making progress.
Mr Ronnachai said the subcommittee, which is part of the government-appointed Truth for Reconciliation Commission (TRC), is stepping up efforts to implement compensation and rehabilitation measures for victims and their relatives affected by the political unrest in several provinces.
The TRC will meet with outgoing army commander Anupong Paojinda on Monday to seek details of security operations to deal with and crack down on the red shirt demonstrations back in April and May.
Puea Thai Party list MP and a key leader of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, Jatuporn Prompan, and other red shirt leaders yesterday unveiled a rehabilitation centre for victims of the violence.
The centre is based at the Imperial World department store in Lat Phrao.
It is the first time the red shirt leaders have gone before the media since the red shirts ended their rally on May 19.
Mr Jatuporn said the centre has an initial funding of 1.5 million baht to help red shirts affected by the political violence.
He said if Puea Thai comes to power as the government after the next general election, the party will give 10 million baht to each of the relatives of victims killed. Mr Jatuporn said he has raised the matter with former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Thaksin has agreed in principle with the idea.

Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thuagsuban has ordered police to set up additional security checkpoints in Bangkok and vicinity following the bombing near Rama III Road in Bangkok’s Yannawa district yesterday, reports said.
Three people were injured by the bomb blast.
Mr Suthep admitted that there are groups of people who wanted to incite violence in the capital for political gain and therefore more checkpoints are needed.
He denied the bombing was the government’s ploy to keep the emergency decree in Bangkok and nearby provinces in place.

Don't think it will make any difference. All the hotels on Charoen Krung are under 10% occupancy at the moment.Originally Posted by lom

Ok, so we have tossers where who believe that the current government is detonating bombs in the capital so that it looks like an unsafe and dangerous place for international viewers.
And they do this only to justify the upholding of the state of emergency decree, a decree that they can let remain without the need to give any public explanation for why it doesn't get lifted.
The decree doesn't hurt the business of a rural rice farmer, he will be able to sell his rice anyway. It hurts the Bangkok businesses economically. it hurts tourism in Thailand's tourist destinations and it hurts the government from international reputation point of view.
but you read the paper it said elections early next year,
