People will be killed by these wild animals
Tigers are lovely

I don't know about the place in Chiang Mai but I do know that the 'Tiger Temple' in Kanchanaburi requires everyone to sign a disclaimer before they enter which basically says that if the tiger bites you, you cannot sue the temple. Never know anyone refuse to sign, but sooner or later someone will get hurt...Originally Posted by mobs00

Kiwi family's mercy mission for Myanmar
While the world's hopes are pinned on an international political resolution to the situation in Myanmar, one Kiwi family is heading to the Thailand border to help.
Stuart and Ruth Corlett, along with their three children, flew out of New Zealand yesterday to help in one of the many refugee camps on the Thailand border with Myanmar.
They are working with an organisation which runs orphanages, emergency relief and development programmes on the Thai boarder.
But as to what kind of role they will play, they're not 100 per cent sure.
Mr Corlett's background is in pharmacy. "I'm 90 per cent sure mine will be medical. There's a huge medical need," Mr Corlett said.
Ruth is an English as a second language teacher and could work in one of the orphanage schools while their three children, aged between eight and eleven, will attend an international school.
The family have spent the last seven years in Thailand and have been in constant contact with people in Partners, the non-governmental organisation running the programmes.
Mr Corlett said the family is well aware of the situation on the border.
"There was a girl about six years old who was found living with the pigs by one of the members of the relief teams.
Her village had been destroyed and everyone was killed. Partners found the girl and took her to an orphanage," Mr Corlett said.
Partners supports another NGO - the Free Burma Rangers - who cross the border to perform emergency surgery in the bush.
Mr Corlett said the operations range from extracting bullets, to emergency amputations after land mines are stepped on.
He said Partners' role is two-fold. It has it's own operations on the boarder, providing help to the people fleeing Myanmar, while also raising awareness about their situation around the world.
Mr Corlett said the New Zealand government also has a role given the links between China and the military junta in Myanmar.
"New Zealand is looking at a fair trade agreement with China but the government needs to take another look," he said.
He said New Zealand has made a stand against nuclear testing in the past and Apartheid in South Africa. The situation in Myanmar is no different.
The Corletts plan on setting up a branch of Partners in New Zealand. There are already branches in Australia, Canada, Norway and the United Kingdom.

MISSIONARY SLOT: Ruth and Stewart Corlett are with their children in
Chiang Mai, Thailand. Sadly we will be finishing up with TZ and are
negotiating finishing times. We have been on the field for over 7 years.
Please pray for God’s leading for the future of our family. They have a
dangerously high level of pollution and need rain to clear it up.

I went to one of these drive thru safari's somewhere near Kanchanaburi a few years back. They had tiger cubs that were being offered to look at up close, not pet. As cute as they are and as much as you might want to pet them I wouldnt have done so anyway. Theyre wild animals even if theyre in captivity (oxymoron-ish I know) and should be treated as such, more out of respect for them than anything else. Dogs and cats love being petted, tigers like to rip the arse end out of wilderbeast and eat them, easy choice.

Did they send for NGO - the Free Burma Rangers - who cross the border to perform emergency surgery in the bush.
Or was the bite not that high?

After a lesson learned as a young boy, I try not to go anywhere near undomesticated animals.
A drive-through safari park somewhere in the Eastern US. Our whole family was packed in our brand new Olds station wagon and driving slowly through the park past the giraffes and zebras. A monkey jumped up on the hood and proceeded to rip both windshield wipers clean off the car.
My father was spitting nails. We all got beat for laughing so hard.
No wild animals for me, thanks.
I wonder why we call wild animals wild animals, must be a reason for it mustn't there.
It never ceases to amaze me, how people do stupid things without thinking of the consequences of their actions when they put themselves into a potential dangerous situation. I wonder, where do they get these people who have no common sense and to be honest I put most of the blame on her husband for letting her do something so dangerous without him pointing out the danger.
Of course lyn, it must be the husbands fault because he is male and therefore more intelligent, what a bastard he is.
A New Zealand aid worker mauled by a tiger in Northern Thailand is recovering well in hospital.
The tiger bite Ruth Corlett got in the leg at the Khumsu Chiang Mai Tiger Centre on Sunday only narrowly missed a main artery. She needed 54 stitches.
Mrs Corlett's husband, Stu, says the attack was unprovoked and he is appalled at how the centre reacted to the emergency.
He says it didn't have a first-aid kit or trained staff, and the manager got lost driving to the hospital.
Mr Corlett is calling for an inquiry, a safety committee or the shutting down of the centre.
No first aid and they don't even know how to get to the hospital? When I went there it seemed like they just hired cute Uni girls as guides. Mind you, I got no problem with that but I doubt they would know what to do when someone is attacked.
Why is this place not being called by it's proper name "Chiang Mai Tiger Kingdom"?
Why is everyone jumping on the lady? She was the victim here.
It has nothing to do with whether she is a Christian kiwi or not. This could of happened to any Tom, Dick, or Harry. The tigers are there to be petted, aren't they? Isn't that the purpose of the Tiger kingdom for tigers to be open to the public.
It is unfortunate incident, but I don't think it is all the lady's fault. Glad to hear she is recovering. If they sue for not having a first aid kit (Amazing Thailand), then I hope they win.
^Oh so funny...
The place is for petting tigers, right? So, it wasn't anyone's fault. Yes, it is a wild animal, but it could of happened to anyone. It isn't really either person's fault. The fault would be having the tiger kingdom in the first place (esp. if they let people pet wild tigers). Tigers are meant to roam wild, and not to be petted imo.
