Fake gold gang caught in Satthip.
A story now from our colleagues in Sattahip District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Bumloong from Sattahip Police Station was called to the Tong Banyar Gold Shop by the owner, Khun Sooprichar who had just received a fake gold bracelet from a woman who was intending to exchange the item for cash. A simple test of the item revealed that it was silver with a thin layer of gold on the exterior. Police arrived and detained six people and seized a red Toyota Corona in front of the Krung Thai Bank further up the street. Inside the car were implements used in the production of these fake items of jewelry. It appeared that this was a well organized scam where females were sent to gold shops around the district and would inform the shop owners that the items she wished toe exchange for cash were Gold. The group consisting of two men and three women were arrested but one of the female gang members managed to avoid capture and escaped. The arrested individuals from Gampangpet Province were charged with deception and will now explain their actions to a judge.
