Ok, let's hypothetically say they manage to 'capture' Thugsin & bring him back to Thailand.

Great - what's next?

Absolutely nothing would happen - he'd sit in jail for 1 day at best, & walk free - like all the other crew before him... Then what?

^ maybe they whack him, that's the whole point of taking him back

Which is why the worst thing Thaksin could do to them is to come back and turn himself in -- but he's too much of a coward to do so, so he won't -- and Abhisit and his team knows that, so they keep turning up the heat, just enough to make him run, but not enough to bring him back home.

I suspect at one point there will be a terrible accident. These things happen when people are rushing and not paying attention... This doesn't have any priority, though, until an unmentionable event happens.
