Some really bias reporting as would be expected, but why are were 'locals' manning seciurity while the police stood by and let them confront each other?
Seems like an engineered situation, but yet again the egg is well and truly on the governments face, what should have shown the reds to be thuggish and a threat to security has just further proved the authorities to be incompetent and the country unqualified for such a meeting.
This Thailand! You no like you go home!
Excuse my ignorance, who the fok are the blue shirts?
Supposedly 5 red shirts been shot, loads of ping pong bombs, and idiots throwing bottles off the bridge, the summit guys are being evacuated and are all heading for Sattahip, what a foking traffic jam...

A big los of face for Thailand and Abhisit looks so incompetent in the eyes of the world when his government uses vigilantes to do the work of the police.
Then there is the useless Thai media the Nation in particular is far too busy attacking Thaksin to care about the truth and the country.
You are not alone in your ignorance Gordon, but I think the only people going to profit are the shirt makers!
Govt announces state of emergency in Pattaya, Chon Buri
Prime Minister Abhisit announced on TV that the government announced state of emergency in Pattaya and Chon Buri following the raid of the summit venue.
Abhisit said Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban was assigned to enforce the emergency law to control the situation.
He said the government had made sure that all Asean leaders and other foreign leaders would leave the country safely.
The prime minister said the state of emergency was necessary following the clash between red-shirted protesters and volunteers who helped the government keep security in Pattaya.
He said the red-shirted protesters tried to block foreign leaders from attending the summit, prompting it to be cancelled.
He said the foreign leaders understood the situation well.
The prime minister said the government would restore normalcy as soon as possible.

Red-shirts allege Govt use force against them

Pattaya
The anti-government protesters accused the government of using force against them demanding Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to take responsibility by stepping down.
Protest leader Arisman Phongruangrong took some used blue shirt, smoke bomb, spent shell of ammunitions and spiked nails to display in front of reporters at the media center to back up his claim.
The government-sponsored blue shirt men fired armed to protesters who came to Pattaya to express democratic right at the Asean summit, he said.
"The shooting is apparently intention to kill the protesters," Arisman said.
Some military officers wore the blue shirts to attack the peaceful demonstration, he said.
The protesters give the government one hour after they finish their press conference at noon to find out the gunmen.
The protesters under the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship (DAAD) claimed some 10 protesters injured during the clash on Saturday morning and some of the are in serious condition.
The government's spokesman Panithan Wattanayagorn made no clear rejection on the accusation saying "the incident is under investigation who caused the violence."
However, Arisman said that he knew Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuasubhan and government supporter Newin Chidchob met Friday night at a Jomtian restaurant to plot the plan against the red shirted protesters.
Reporters saw Suthep and Newin walking together to inspect the areas near the meeting venue around 9 p.m. Friday night.
As of noon Saturday, the summit has not yet begun, spokesman Panithan said the authority is working
The above YT video in post #11 doesn't show who started it, but it does seem to contradict the Nations version of events as the police seem to be between thhe two groups of combatants.
I have been told they work for Deputy Prime Minister Suthep ThaugsubanOriginally Posted by Gordon Brown
but that came from a red shirt so might be slightly biased
This country is a joke -- but fairly entertaining.
I fail to see how this is a Red victory, we are really dealing with a bunch of jungle monkeys. So the point of the whole excercise was to disrupt the ASEAN summit ?
Maybe DrB could enlighten us with his everlasting wisdom,
Bangkok Post : Summit collapses, emergency declared
some good pics of the grenade throwers and gun shot victims...
Welcome to Pattaya, the Extreme City, this message was brought to you by the Thai tourism Authority.
