Nine police officers were injured this morning, in the latest bombing in the southernmost province of Pattani.
They were patrolling a road in Tambon Muangtia, Mae Lan district, to provide security for teachers and students on their way to school when an improvised explosive device, believed to have been planted near a utility pole, was detonated.
One victim, Pol Sgt Sahatsawat Ponsang, who sustained eye injuries in the blast, was rushed to Pattani Hospital.
