Pattaya Beach Road to Be Closed to All Vehicle Traffic During Wan Lai on April 19th

Pattaya City has announced to close Beach Road from Central Pattaya to South Pattaya to all vehicle traffic during Wan Lai Day, also known as the Big Day on April 19th, 2024.

The road will be closed from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM to allow tourists to play water along the beach. The closure was officially announced on Tuesday, April 2nd, by Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Wuttisak Rueimkitkan.

Pattaya’s Wan Lai Day will feature a variety of activities, including religious ceremonies, cultural and music performances, and water splashing. Although activities and water fights will likely start in some tourist portions of Pattaya as early as April 12th, the 19th is the official annual celebration of Songkran, the Thai New Year, in Pattaya and sees hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists.

The festival will start in the morning and last until 11:00 PM.

Wan Lai is a different holiday. Songkran starts the 11th and goes through 15th of April this year. Wan Lai is on the 19th though they might play all the way from next weekend to the 19th.

Pick ups carting water barrels about the place were banned some time ago, as were those water bazookas that totalled passing motorcyclists. Pattaya Songkran tends to move about from the 14 th onward reflecting the differing districts conventions but the problem in the past has been western oiks who act like the morons they are and fuck around the whole week. Thankfully, the Brit lower end blue collar trash has pretty much abandoned Pattaya and so mobs of tattooed twats accompanied by their whores are no longer present.
Wan Lai isn’t just Pattaya folk, it's for anyone within a hundred miles and up to half a million can squeeze into the Beach Road for effectively 24 hours of mayhem.
Historically, I and the wingman remain confined to barracks until the 14th when we travel up to Bkk and stay there until after Wan Lai - Bkk is great during this period with over 2 million or so having fucked off to the boonies etc.

Just because they banned something doesn’t mean it happens…

    Thank you for the explanation.
