On December 7th, 2023, Nakhon Phanom reporters publicly revealed efforts for the Nakhon Phanom Municipality and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to promote tourism along the Mekong River with a Bike Lane Tunnel throughout December.


The landmark attraction along the Mekong River, the Bike Lane Tunnel, is available for cyclists, joggers, and tourists to indulge in the spectacular scenery on both sides of the Thai-Lao Mekong River up close.

The tunnel is decorated with colorful, vivid neon lights at a total of 500 meters. The best view can be seen at night throughout December, especially on Christmas and New Year holidays.


According to a report by Nakhon Phanom officials, more than 1.5 million tourists visited Nakhon Phanom in 2023, the number was doubled compared to the previous year.

Many ancient temples and holy statues such as Wat Phra That Phanom and Phraya Srisattanakharat are located in Nakhon Phanom for religious aspects that attract many people.

Ok, I'll bite...how do people indulge in the spectacular scenery at night, especially the Lao side, when they are blinded by neon lights !
If the "view" is supposed to be of the lights then it's rather obvious that night would be the best time. And I would guess those lights are LED, not neon ?
