An Indian tourist alleged that he was physically assaulted by a motorbike taxi driver in Pattaya. The incident occurred after the victim had parked his motorcycle in front of a market, which the suspect claimed was a designated spot for taxi motorcycles only.
Mr. Somnath Saha, a 39-year-old Indian national, reported to Pattaya police at 01:30 AM on December 4th that he had been attacked by an unidentified Thai male in front of an unnamed market on Pattaya Second Road, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
According to Mr. Somnath, the Thai man approached him and requested him to move his motorcycle. Acknowledging that he might have parked in an area reserved for taxi motorcycles, Mr. Somnath gave the man a wai (a Thai gesture of apology) and began relocating his motorcycle. However, the man suddenly assaulted Mr. Somnath, allegedly striking him twice on the left side of his head. The Indian victim stated that he was very frightened and immediately drove away from the scene.
Pattaya police are investigating the incident and currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an attempt to identify the assailant. The victim has also been sent to a hospital for a medical examination.
