I thought I recognised the name. I inject our dogs with Ivermectin for heartworm and ticks and keep it in the 'animal' fridge. A few days after their jabs and the ticks fall off dead.

I thought using it on dogs was pushing it a bit as it's mainly used for parasites in cattle and pigs but I guess it all depends on the dosage.

Russia to launch 'Sputnik-Light' COVID vaccine in Feb

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia will launch the one-dose “Sputnik-Light” version of its coronavirus vaccine in February, the vaccine’s producers said on Twitter on Friday.

Russia to Research One-Shot 'Sputnik Light' Vaccine

Russia will test a one-shot version of its Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, which would allow it to inoculate more people faster while offering less protection.

A clinical trial of 150 people starting this month will test the safety and efficacy of the so-called Sputnik Light, state news agency TASS said Monday. The current version of Sputnik V is administered in two doses, 21 days apart. Results from clinical trials so far have shown that it is 91.4% effective, according to Russian authorities.

Officials have said that they expect Sputnik Light to be 85% effective and to confer immunity lasting three to four months. Russian President Vladimir Putin said last month that such a one-dose vaccine would allow more people to be vaccinated quickly. Some countries, including the U.K., have decided to delay the second shot of their vaccines to speed up their inoculation programs.

Russia, one of the countries worst-affected by the pandemic with more than 3.4 million cases, began to administer Sputnik V in early December but production problems have slowed the mass rollout.

The slimmed-down version of the vaccine would be used abroad while, domestically, Russians will continue to receive the two-dose Sputnik V, officials said Monday. Russia has sold Sputnik V to dozens of countries, including Brazil, India and Mexico.

On Sunday, Algeria became the first country in Africa to authorize the vaccine while the Palestinian Ministry of Health gave its approval on Monday, Russian officials said.

A new problem is appearing. Apparently the Fizer and Modenema vaccine is causing Immune thrombocytopenia in some patients.

That is utter bollocks and you should read your own shitty links before you make a tit of yourself.

But they have not been able to establish a causal association of the disorder with their vaccine. On the other hand, Moderna said that the company continuously monitors the safety of its vaccine and shares safety information with regulators, noting that the rate of thrombocytopenia is well below the expected number of such events.

First Covid-19 vaccine arrives

SAMUT PRAKAN: The first 200,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine arrived from China and was received by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and high-level officials at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday morning.

A Thai Airways International plane carrying the vaccine from Beijing landed at the airport at 10.05am.

The shipment was a part of 2 million doses, worth 1.2 billion baht, the government ordered from Sinovac Life Sciences Co of China. The 200,000 doses will be stored and checked in a warehouse until Friday.

On Saturday they will be delivered to specific hospitals, with inoculations set to start next Monday.

Initial vaccination will cover medical personnel and people aged 18-59 in 13 provinces targeted for Covid-19 control and economic support.

Air New Zealand has announced that it will start trials of the IATA Travel Pass digital health passport solution on its Auckland-Sydney route in April.
Air New Zealand Chief Digital Officer Jennifer Sepull says the goal is to enable customers to seamlessly manage their digital travel documentation throughout their travel experience.
“Once borders reopen, travel is going to look very different, with customers’ health data needing to be verified at check-in. It’s essentially like having a digital health certificate that can be easily and securely shared with airlines. This will give customers peace of mind that they meet all travel requirements for the different countries around the world before they even get to the airport.
“Reassuring customers that travel is in fact safe is one of our priorities. By using the app, customers can have confidence that everyone onboard meets the same government health requirements they do.
“By having a place to store all your health credentials digitally in one place, it will not only speed up the check-in process but unlock the potential for contactless travel,” Sepull explained.
Using the digital health passport solution, customers will be able to create a digital health wallet linked to their e-passport. Once travellers have been tested and/or vaccinated, labs will securely send data to the individual’s app. It then checks requirements for travel against the data and customers who meet those travel requirements will be given the green tick to travel.

MORE AIRLINES SIGN UP FOR VACCINE PASSPORTS
After the UK government said it was pressing ahead with agreeing a “vaccine passport” to smooth international travel in the coronavirus era, one of the leading contenders has announced more support for its plans.
The International Air Transport Association (Iata) is promoting its Travel Pass initiative – an app-based system that, it claims, offers high security and privacy as well as global acceptability.
Rather than personal information being stored on a central database, the details are shared at the travellers’ discretion, the organisation says. Data is, though, transmitted internationally.
Air New Zealand has announced it will trial the digital app on its Auckland-Sydney route in April, while RwandAir is the first African carrier to sign up for the project.
