Qatar and Iran can't be classed as friends or allies of the UAE.
"Unusual and embarrassing revelations about friends and allies. With reluctance of UK authorities to address matter thru common channels, due legal process needs to take its course." UAE Foreign minister Anwar Gargash
So the UK?
Yes, I did. Cheers.
That said, the Tweet referred to doesn't actually contain the words "the student's". See the Tweet in my post #29.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-46288510A British PhD student has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of spying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Matthew Hedges, a 31-year-old academic at Durham University, said he was conducting a research trip when he was arrested on 5 May at Dubai airport.
Perhaps the UK could arrest an Emirati student or visitor and a spy swap could be arranged.
didn't stand a chance..........
A family spokesman said the hearing "lasted less than five minutes and his lawyer was not present".
I wonder what it was that he 'spied'.A court in Abu Dhabi has declared him guilty of "spying for or on behalf of" the UK government.
