BANGKOK — A fire broke out Friday afternoon at a former dinosaur-themed amusement park on Sukhumvit Road. There are no reports of injuries.

At about 3pm on Friday, large clouds of grey smoke billowed from the former Dinosaur Park near Soi Sukhumvit 22, where a fire began inside the venue’s, currently undergoing demolition.
Firemen were putting off the flames as of 3:20pm.

In April, 2016, fire engulfed a giant ferris wheel inside the venue when it was still operating. It was ordered shut 15 days after the fire was extinguished.

Dinosaur Park closed permanently on April 20 to make way for the construction of new shopping mall EmSphere.

I think all former dinosaur's are parked some here even.

There is an old story from the natural History Museum in kensington where a magnifcent Dinosaur greeted visitors.

    A school tour asked

    "How old is the dinosaur"

250 million and twenty three years answered the guide

"Wow that's amazingly accurate, how do you know that"

Well it was 250 million when I started working here 23 years ago boom boom

No TD experts needed to solve this one. Gary Larson had his theory over 40 years ago.

DINOSAUR PARK DEMOLITION FIRE WAS ACCIDENTAL: POLICE

BANGKOK — Sparks from a welding torch caused a Friday fire rage in a recently closed dinosaur theme park, according to police.

After a brief investigation, Thonglor police ruled the large fire, which broke out at around 3pm yesterday, to be an accident resulting from demolition work at the Dinosaur Planet amusement park next to Benjasiri Park on Sukhumvit Road.

“Workers were demolishing the venue which involved metal cutting,” said Lt. Ouayporn Rattanacharoen. “Sparks from a welding torch got into a pile of flammable trash and spread out.”
The fire began at an outdoor stage inside the amusement park, sending a large cloud of smoke into the sky.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames about half an hour later. There were no injuries.
The theme park was ordered to shut down after a fire consumed a Ferris wheel cabin in April 2016. It permanently closed April 20 and is being demolished to make way for a new shopping mall.
