Three Thai women who were accused of murdering a karaoke bar girl and mutilating her body have been arrested by Myanmar authorities and handed over to Thai immigration police.

Myanmar authorities handed over Priyanuch Nonwangchai, the prime suspect, and two friends - Kawita Rachada and Apiwan Satayabundit – to Thai police at the Mae Sai district border checkpoint at 9:30 pm.

They were accused of killing 22-year-old karaoke bar singer Warisara Klinjui, and fled to Myanmar via the Tachilek-Mae Sai checkpoint in Chiang Rai province last month.

Pha Mueang Taskforce Commander Col Kidakorn Chantra said the three suspects were being detained at the Mae Sai Immigration Office Saturday night.

3 bar girls confess of killing their colleague over debt and drug business

The three female suspects in the murder and dismembering of a bar girl have allegedly admitted to the police during the initial interrogation that they did kill their victim due to conflict over illicit drug business and debt, according to Pol Gen Chakthip Chaichinda, the national police chief, on Sunday.

The three suspects, Ms Preeyanut Nonewangchai, Ms Kawita Ratchada and Ms Apiwan Sattayabundit, who are also karaoke bar girls turned themselves in to police in Myanmar and they were handed over to Thai authorities. They were flown to Bangkok from Chiang Rai on Sunday and immediately escorted to the Royal Thai Police to be questioned by the police chief.

After a 30-minute interrogation, Pol Gen Chakthip told a press conference there were five suspects involved in this case and all of them have already held in police custody.

He said that the murder of the victim, Ms Warisara Klinjui, was motivated by conflict over debt between Ms Preeyanut and the victim and narcotics, resulting to the arrest of Ms Preeyanut on drug charges previously.

According to the police chief, Ms Preeyanut claimed that they did not intend to kill Ms Warisara at the beginning but, somehow they were carried away by developments of the situation while they were with the victim in a car.

The suspect also claimed that they originally did not intend to chop off the body of the victim, but simply did not know how to get rid of the dead body.

But the police chief said that evidences would prove whether the killing was intentional or not.

The three karaoke bar girls were charged with murder and concealing the body in order to cover up the crime.

Bar girl murder suspects confess, Preaw says no intention of killing victim

The three female suspects accused of killing and dismembering a Khon Kaen bar girl handed themselves over to authorities in Myanmar on Saturday night after an intense manhunt. Police have confirmed that they confessed to the gruesome crime.

The trio: Preeyanuch “Preaw” Nonwangchai, 24, Kawita “Earn” Ratchada, 25, and Apiwan “Jae” Sattayabundit, 28, were flown from Chiang Rai to Bangkok on Sunday and then to Khon Kaen where they would be further interrogated.

The three suspects were charged with cooperating in the premeditated murder of Warisara Klinjui, 22, concealing her dead body, theft, and overstaying their visas in Myanmar, Bangkok Post reported.

Warisara’s body was found dismembered into two pieces and buried in in Khao Suan Kwang district of Khon Kaen on May 25.

National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda said that Warisara’s murder was committed due to a personal conflict related to the victim sharing info with police that led to the arrest of Preeyanuch’s husband, who is now in prison on drug charges.

Preeyanuch also claimed that the victim owed her THB40,000, about $1,200, for more than a year.

Police said the victim was not involved with any drug using or dealing.

Despite a much-viewed video posted to Preeyanuch’s Facebook page, allegedly showing her pouring white powder that many assumed to have been drugs, no drug charges have yet been pressed against the trio.

Social media has been abuzz discussing the luxury lifestyle of Preeyanuch. She posted photos of herself holding and kissing stacks of money on her personal Facebook as well as photos with luxury items from Fendi, Gucci, and YSL.

According to the national police chief, Preeyanuch claimed she had no intention to kill Warisara but only wanted to “teach her a lesson.”

But as the argument escalated in the car, Preeyanuch strangled the victim out of rage, Chakthip said.

Chakthip said that the officers treated the suspects fairly, despite photos circulating online that criticized the cops for not having the women handcuffed. In response, Chakthip, said that they did not handcuff the suspects since they were not a flight risk. He also noted that it was standard and normal for cops to let arrested murder suspects to put on makeup in detention.

A Twitter picture by a Spring News journalist shows the suspects sleeping in blankets prepared for them while they were held at Chiang Rai immigration.



Meanwhile, another viral photo on social media shows suspect Preeyanuch smiling. She brought much attention to the case due to her expression of love for Chucky doll on Facebook, as netizens flocked to her social media account and call her names such as “psycho” and “murderer.”

Seeing this show on TV, ladies making themselves at home at the station, unshackled, chatting and puting make-up... makes me wonder about other less gruesome cases (road accident, street fights or even shoplifting, when I see Farangs shackled, and a bit shocked presumably due to what the cops did or said to them... The no flight risk is not an excuse as the murder girls actually did flee abroad before there arrest.

Preeyanuch, 24, and two accused colluders – Kawinta “Earn” Ratchada, 25, and Apiwan “Jae” Satayabundit, 28 – were taken to eight spots linked to the grisly murder on May 23.

These included the store where they bought a saw, a resort where 22-year-old Ms Warisara was cut up and bagged, and the field where her dismembered body was then buried.

Two companies of police also escorted the trio to an intersection on Nadi road where they picked up Ms Warisara in a car and later drove her to the resort.

The murder occurred in the car, where Preeyanuch allegedly mortally assaulted Ms Warisara, Provincial Police Region 4 deputy chief Chaoroenwit Siwanit said today.

“When the suspects realised the victim was dead, they bought the equipment [to dispose of the body] and drove to the resort,” he said.

Investigators have implicated and arrested a total of five suspects in the case. The other two are Wasin Namprom, 25, and his girlfriend Jidarat Promkhun, 21.

Ms Warisara’s dismembered body, stuffed in plastic bags in two plastic containers, was disinterred from a shallow grave on land owned by Preeyanuch in Khon Kaen’s Khao Suan Kwang district on May 25.

Preeyanuich and her two companions crossed the border to the Myanmar town of Tachilek, opposite Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district, the same day.

A wall of police kept hundreds of angry villagers at bay during the re-enactment at the grave site.

Police said yesterday (June 4) that the three women, arrested by Myanmar authorities on Saturday night (June 3) and handed over to Thailand, admitted to the charges of premeditated murder and concealing a body.

National police chief Chakthip Chaijinda said the killing arose from a personal conflict. Ms Warisara had given information to police that led the arrest and imprisonment of Preeyanuch’s husband on a drugs charge. The victim had also allegedly owed Preeyanuch B40,000 for over a year.

The three women are to appear in court on this afternoon, when police would ask to detain them for the first 12-day period to allow further investigation. Police would oppose bail, deputy police chief Gen Chalermkiat Sriworakhan said.

Relatives of Preeyanuch have asked that she not be sentenced to death, but be allowed to live.

Ms Warisara’s grieving grandmother Thonglom Klinjui posed them a question in return.

They had asked for life, she said. “So I’d like to ask them back, how can I ask for the life of Nong Aem?” she said, using her murdered grand-daughter’s nickname.

The 67-year-old grandmother asked Preeyanuch’s relatives to also see the case from the point of view of the young victim’s relatives.
