Englishman Beaten Up in Walking Street
The Pattaya Police were informed by vendors in Walking Street area at 1.30 am on 25th August that a fight involving a foreigner occurred and it was causing a lot of hassle in Walking Street.
The police and Sawang rescuers arrived to find the fight already over so took the two men, a woman and a young girl to the police station for questioning.
Mr. Suwat, aged 43, who sells mobile phones in Walking Street., stated that he closed the shop that night and was ready to go home carrying his 5 year old daughter with his wife, when suddenly this foreigner approached him and punched him. This caused his daughter to fall to the ground and that really made him angry so he fought back. However, because of being smaller, the foreigner had an advantage in the fight and when residents and vendors in the area saw that they intervened and set upon the Englishman and beat him up causing him head and face injuries.
The foreigner, 45 year old Gary Angerstein from Britain then gave his side of the story. He said that while Suwat was walking, Suwat’s shoulder hit him and that made him mad so he attacked Suwat for doing so and not apologizing.
