UTTARADIT, 5th January 2017 (NNT) – Uttaradit province has organized a campaign against forest burning activities, offering rewards to individuals who provide leads in identifying forest burners.
The Uttaradit Natural Resources and Environment Office Director Theera Ngernwilai disclosed today that from 1st January 2017 until now, almost 20 forest fire hot spots have been recorded. Most of the blazes are in agricultural areas.
The highest concentration of hot spots was in Pha Luet sub-district in Tha Pla district. Community leaders have been instructed to educate the local pubic about the fire and haze problem, and campaign against the practice of forest burning.
Firefighting teams have instructed all units to be prepared in case of an emergency at any time around the clock. A reward of 5,000 baht will be offered to those who report clues to the identity of forest burners.
