*Nah, I just meant those certain individuals (not all of them!).![]()
When you are more familiar with Teakdoor, you will see that hapless sexpats here have the same proclivity to amor proprio.
Which of them has the biggest house? Which is the toughest or the hansumest? All are matters of great honour and any perceived slight results in prolonged feuding - but never a face-to-face resolution.
^I've noticed that (long time lurker)...
Nah, I think you are all decent, nice people (jing jing mai go 6)...

Scottish man goes into hiding on Thai island after claiming he knows who killed backpackers David Miller and Hannah Witheridge
A SCOT has gone into hiding on a tiny island in Thailand after claiming he knows who killed tragic David Miller and Hannah Witheridge.
Ex-pat Sean McAnna, 25, who lives in Koh Tao, posted messages on his Facebook page last night claiming his life was in danger because he knew the killers.
The backpackers were bludgeoned to death on Monday. It’s understood they just met hours before they were killed.
Sean, who is from Glasgow, works in the AC nightclub, where Hannah, 23, from Hemsby, Norfolk, and David, 24, from Jersey, are believed to have spent their last hours.
He posted: “Thai mafia are trying to kill me. Please help me.” A few minutes later he accused a local bar owner of being responsible.
Worried friends and relatives immediately launched a campaign to get him to safety.
It is understood Sean has been taken to a safe place and is waiting to get off the island.
Today a friend of his, who asked not to be named, said: “Sean said he knew David Miller as the island is very small.
“He said the island is run by the Thai mafia and he knew the identities of the killer.
“He was frightened for his life and felt he needed help from anyone he could and social media was his best option.
“His mum and sister contacted Scottish and Thai police and he is now safe.
Thai detectives have confirmed they are investigating claims the pair were murdered after a row with a local gangster.
Students Hannah and David had attended a beach party before slipping away together at around 1am on Monday.
Their semi-naked bodies were discovered on the beach near rocks only 100 yards from the scene of the party.
Police said that DNA semen samples taken from Hannah’s body were from two men, both Asian. However, it did not match any of their DNA records.
A spokeswoman for the British Embassy said: “We are currently assisting a British national in Thailand.

Ah ha - and where there is local mafia you have complete ownership of the local cops by said mafia. Cops know who did it. SIMPLES.
What ciggies were they smoking again?

Not too may of the cops involved here would be local. I read somewhere that there are only about five of them and they are based on the big island and just visit by boat.
There's between 100 and 150 BIB on the case....drafted in from here and there....with a general heading things up...and about ten thousand press guys breathing all over them. They probably outnumber the local mafia by at least ten to one.
^^ Exactly. They won't have a problem arresting the man just because he's mafia, not a chance.
Good call earlier by Necron though, pointing out the reasons why witnesses wouldn't come forward when a couple of us said we thought they would.
I personally thought the chance of it being a connected person were too slim to consider.
^^ Between us, we have cracked it Kurgen.
What's half of 713,000 Baht?
The two cnuts in that picture need to be arrested and locked up even if they had nothing to do with it.
Wonder why this Glaswegian has suddenly popped up after all this time, if he knows who the killers are. He could have asked for protection and got off the island first day...unless he just found out somehow??? Be interesting to see how long this story holds up.
Let's not kid ourselves here guys.
The idea of Bangkok BIB arriving to save the day is somewhat laughable. Bangkok BIB are equally dim-witted, incompetent and corrupt as their islander counterparts.
Another thing, this sort of thing happens on a regular basis to Thais, situated well down the social pecking order. In these situations, there's not even an attempt at 'going through the motions of an investigation'.
Now back to the BIB, have they screwed up the investigation by means of sabotage or their standard gross incompetence?....although at this stage it's probably a moot point.
Sean McAnna (a friend of Miller's) claims the Thai mafia gave him death threats and forced him to flee the island.

Bit silly to suggest fitting up a Scot when the DNA has already said Asian innit?
Unless they just want him off the island.
Also, they could intimidate him, but not the shopkeeper?
They may not understand DNA or even care...
Word on the street is that the Scot tried to be a have a go hero, going around asking far too many questions, then quickly found out he was out of his depth and fled.
^Are you on that street?...And would you try to help a friend?,,,Just asking...
Koh Tao: police fail another day
Latest DNA test results, mostly on migrants, come back negative; police waiting for news on 3 'new' suspects tested
POLICE hunting the killers of two British tourists on Koh Tao failed again yesterday to link suspects to the crimes, as DNA tests on 30 out of 64 samples collected mostly from migrants on the island did not match any found on the victims' bodies.
Yesterday was the eighth day since the murders but police have yet to reveal solid clues or the likely motive. The officials were waiting for results of DNA tests of three 'new' suspects: two Thais and a migrant who looks like a man seen on a close-circuit television camera.
However they have confirmed that two weapons we used to kill the pair - which led them to believe they are hunting at least two people.
The body of Hannah Witheridge, the young female backpacker slain on the island, meanwhile, left Bangkok for her home country. Her family said in a statement: "We can confirm that we have now returned to the UK with our beautiful Hannah. As a family we feel enormous relief to have Hannah back at home where she belongs."
Her body was found next to David Miller, also 24, on the beach of the resort island on Monday morning. Both were bludgeoned to death.
Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang said yesterday that officers would have to widen the search to be beyond the island.
"We have now confirmed that the killing weapon is not only a hoe found stained with blood, but also a wooden club. This made us believe that there are at least two attackers," he said.

The point was not about competence, it was about being "owned" by the local mafia as local cops may be. At least some of the ones from BKK are not regular street cops, they are "detectives"....Originally Posted by Stranger

^Exactly. The notion that the mainland cops that are involved in this case will be under the control of Ko Tao hoods, and scared to arrest some low down foot soldier thug, is laughable.
