By July, Zaw and Win will have spent five percent of their life in Thai prisons for a crime they did not commit. Life can certainly be unfair. Meanwhile, the real murderers are still out there walking amongst the public and tourists.
^
Diabolical that they won't get their day in court till July.
Jesus, just get it done EH.
On BBC just now the defense team stated they are happy with the new trail date, it allows them more time to prepare.
To bad for those Burmese lads banged up though.
Also the angst goes on for the Families of the deceased and the two Burmese lads.
Quite a change of events regarding the scheduled trial and prosecution of the two murders on Koh Tao supposedly by the two Burmese men (according to the Prosecution).
By pushing the trial (witness testimony) out another seven months I'm beginning to have additional doubts.
My worry is that it will fall off of the media charts and no one will be the wiser with limited coverage.
In comparison, if I correctly recall the railway employee that raped , suffocated and afterwards threw a 13-year-old girl's body from the train was apprehended, confessed , prosecuted and sentenced to death all within a ten-week period.
I thought that was exemplary quick justice...along with plenty of media coverage.
They must need a few more months to pony up some irrefutable "evidence"that the two lads did it.
Its in the UK papers today but not the Bangkok Post.
I think that by moving the court case back, maybe they are waiting to hear the results of OUR UK police inquiry and also what OUR coroner makes of it all !!
If our police conclude that it is totally shambolic, and that none of the Thai Police evidence is worth a toot ,,,,, then just maybe,,,, they may be well advised to back down,,,, because ALL THE WORLD IS WATCHING !!!
This may be their last chance to admit they were wrong,,,, and now go after the real perpetrators. I live in hope.
^
Been sorted already mate, the English cops are happy with the Thai police work.
^ yep. There was no inquiry. See story on Drummonds site.
Pathetic, but understandable move by the defense asking for a delay,
but the inconvinent evidence, the DNA, just wont go away .
So they have phantom witness, too scared to testify, who are now back in Burma..
Funny how now that the 2 immigrants are locked up there has been no further violent crime on the island.
What makes you think that they were lying in court yesterday when they said they have no knowledge of the crime whatsoever, that they were sitting having a beer and left well before anything happened?
Oh I get it, you're just a troll, I suppose. Sad case to troll on, to be honest.
Welcome to the Buffalo Board, Luigi...
^ no bother with that. It's just that there are more tasteful threads and discussions to troll on surely. :)
Statement by the UK Foreign Office:
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We continue to monitor the case closely and expect the trial to be conducted in a fair and transparent way in line with international standards.
"The British government cannot interfere with Thailand's judicial processes just as other governments are unable to interfere in UK judicial processes."
"We continue to provide support and assistance to both the families of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller."
So that's it then.
^ they also added that they have no collected no evidence, and had a dig at the Thai police saying that they had done all they were allowed to do.
Their dna that matched that they collected from the dead sisters body makes me think they are lying .Quote:

Here's the report from the Briish newspaper The Telegraph

Would that be the same group that championed that Lindsay Sandiford caught in Bali with 5 kg of coke ?Quote:

....
Amnesty International called for a “transparent" inquiry into those claims,
Not sure I'd want them on my side .
Thats clever they are playing a guessing game ...Quote:
In a letter handed to lawyers on Friday, the two suspects claimed they were being set up and thanked activists who are campaigning on their behalf.
“We are victims of influential people,” they wrote in the letter, according to Andy Hall, a British human rights activist who is based in Thailand and was inside the court.
The letter offered no further clues as to who those “influential people” might be
That's the same family that at least one was happy working for on the island.Quote:
The letter offered no further clues as to who those “influential people” might be. However, long-term Koh Tao residents have told The Telegraph the island is run by a tight-knit “mafia” of powerful Thai families and many there are convinced these families have information about the true culprits.
why get the case posponed for half a yesr then ?Quote:
"I'm confident because we have enough information to convince the court that the two did not commit the crime," said Nakorn Chompoochart, the head of suspects' legal team
But they saud “We are victims of influential people,”Quote:
“Did you kill them or didn’t you kill them?” the judge asked at one point, according to Mr Hall.
“No, we didn’t,” the men replied.
The judge then urged the two men to reveal any information they had about the murders, Mr Hall added. “You don’t need to be scared. If you know who did it, tell us.”
The men replied that they had been drunk and did not have any information about the crimes.
and now they have no info...
As declared by the RTP?
UK Met officers that observed:
Their are confusion and inconsistencies in the investigation, and questions about the strength of the case against the accused.
I'm not sure you actually know much about the RTP. :D
Not sure how you connect not having info about the crime, and being victims of influential people unknown to them, as one and the same.Quote:

I would say that the original police chief going after local leaders and their son, publicly declaring there's evidence against them, then being replaced immediately as head of the investigation and that avenue closed down would be far more suspicious.
The investigation being reported as being conducted with 'confusion and inconsistencies' and their being 'questions about the strength of the case' against the B2 by the observing UK Met officers says a lot really.
You would think that with such strong evidence as genuine DNA on the victims that the case couldn't possibly have questions about the strength of the case, wouldn't you?
But perhaps you haven't been in Thailand all that long to understand how the country works. Or you're just trolling.
Any kind of link to that ?Quote:

The police have semen samples from the crime sceane .
Do they match to the Burmese immigrants DNA ?
or did the police know they didn't match , but decided that they woulnt bother looking for any suspects ?
We need a trial to establish that, and soon, the defense delaying untill july isnt very helpful for solving the case .
Maybe he went after a long series of gaffs .Quote:

Not sure where you've picked that up from. Don't think anybody is in support of the B2 and finds the police work a complete and utter disgrace to humanity because any such thing.Quote:

You might not remember the case a two years ago of the police entrance exam scandal. Over 100 police applicants from just one province were caught buying answers for the equivalent of 5 years salary. Now you'd have to ask why, those living here for years will understand perfectly. The MO is not justice, it is self interest and self gain.Quote:

I'm sorry you can't join the dots. Or claim not to as some sort of troll.

BBC News Report.
To quote the BBC newscaster:
'Metropolitan Police say that there are 'confusion and inconsistencies in the investigation' in Thailand into the murder of........... Scotland Yard, which is observing the Thai inquiry say that 'There are questions about the strength of the case against the two men from Burma charged with murder.''
bbc.co.uk news report.
Confusion, inconsistencies and questions about the strength of the case, as reported by Scotland Yard observers.....
Which is probably them being polite about their observations. The reality of their report is more likely far more damning.
Why do believe that these two are guilty again?
Just trolling I suppose. :(
