Expecting this British government to act positively is a futile hope. They only move if there is a perceived gain to their popularity by doing so. If the poor man had been a woman who was raped and thrown into a ditch whereupon she suffered serious head injuries she would be back home by now. As it is, a man who is fighting for his life, who thought he was suitably insured, is likely to die in a foreign land and have his family reduced to personal bankruptcy without any help from a wretched government and their feeble lackeys languishing in the British embassy where they primp and posture through their feather bedded lives in feckless indifference to anything except their own miserable bank balances.

Sometimes I despise the British to their very core.

The operative word being "PRIVATE" insurance.

Your rant has absolutely nothing to do with whatever you said. You are mixing up apples and oranges, and simply spewing a rant.

"Gent" Noun 1. gent - informal abbreviation of `gentleman'
gentleman - a man of refinement

Perhaps Webster's dictionary should revisit their understanding of the word 'gent'.

    Oh for goodness sakes.
It was simply hyperbole and a passing reference to Betjeman.

Honestly, talk about pearls and swine, eh?

Wishing him a speedy repatriation and recovery.

Has this poor guy's assailant(s) been identified or arrested yet?

I doubt it. The embassy cannot act independently (it is utterly without initiative and the quality of Ambassador these days ensures it remains so) and London is riven with subservient civil servants who would rather die than set a precedent. Popular support led by some emerging MP with a following might prompt Cameroon/Hague into action but in truth it is likely repatriation will only be effected through charity and the philanthropic help from some decent minded wealthy individual.

How is that a rant, did you learn a new word? We don't have national health care, pay lower taxes because of that and buy our own insurance. Covering their citizens out of the Country could easily be done by the British Government if they wanted to, especially those on short term vacations.

Youre the one that's spewing crap.

So the 'angry father' is a farang then?

(below from first post this thread)
"He was attacked as he drove home alone from a bar in the Nong Prue district, where he plays pool...

"On the way, he stopped and got out of his car, although it is not known why. He was then beaten over the head before his attacker - who is believed to be a Westerner - drove off, leaving him for dead".

Which teacher? If the scum wants to spread slander like that, they ought to leave their name too.

You as well, ya gutless clown?

The staff I know at that school only have good things to say about him.

Former Leeds teacher fights for life in Thailand

    - last updated Thu 7 Jun 2012

    Adam Pickles Photo: Calendar

Thailand assault victim Adam Pickles has overcome two severe health scares in addition to his coma battle during the jubilee weekend.

The former Leeds teacher beat both an infection and pneumonia in just 72 hours as global support for his care and recovery continues to be pledged.

Donations have now passed £33,000 towards the care of new father Adam, 40, three weeks on from the metal bar assault that nearly killed him.

Campaigners have been buoyed by news that the Bangkok insurance firm Adam has a policy with through his Thai teaching job has now agreed to pay towards his care.

However the pay-out will cover about a tenth of the total care bill and none of the repatriation costs, which if combined are expected to exceed £70,000.

Fundraiser drives are taking place across the globe; from curry nights in Pattaya, Thailand; sponsored ultra-skates by the Dutch record holder in the Netherlands, a Dubai rugby tournament and a “buy one for Adam” evening arranged by his ex-colleagues at the Cathedral School, Wakefield.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

The guy was well liked. Friendship is not to be taken lightly. From around the world as well. I for one wish him the very best of luck. Hopefully in the end his insurance will see all the world publicity and for once open the vaults of cash just a bit more.

Gent. The victim chose to leave the UK. He doesn't pay UK tax.

Playing Devil's Advocate - why should British taxpayers pay for him to be flown home, in order to receive free National Health treatment?

It was just a question, since you seem to be revealing a little bit more in each post. You said the guy was pestering the kids, then it became sexual, then later you said he was at it with both the boys and girls. So why wouldn't you know what the texts said since you said the guy who told you had seen them? Why wouldn't you ask the guy? Anyway, since you wanna be a prick - welcome to Teakdoor dickhead.

What you typed here looks like a fact though.

Then you backtrack a bit by saying that you don't know for a fact if he is a teacher.

Not having a go. Just think it's better that in a topic this sensitive that information shared should be creditable.

^^ Sorry pal. I edited my previous post whilst you typed this.
Nothing against you or anything like that.
There is a reason why what happened happened, but tread carefully unless you know your source is 100% correct.
