Muslims have more right to Australia

Dickhead Muslim leader Sheik Taj el-Din al Hilaly has set off a new controversy, claiming Muslims have more right to be in Australia than the descendants of convicts.

On Arabic television, he said westerners were the world's biggest liars and accused the media of trying to bring him down.
The sheik was invited to appear on Egyptian television to explain his sermon comparing women who show some skin, to uncovered pieces of meat that invite predators.
At the time, Sheikh al Hilaly claimed his comments were taken out of context, but on Today in Cairo he defended the remarks, blaming the media for the national outcry.
"This is a calculated conspiracy aimed at terrorising our Islamic community, aimed at me first in order to bring the Islamic community to its knees," Sheik Hilaly said in Arabic. He went further, claiming Muslims had more right to be in Australia than the ancestors of convicts.

Well the Muslims living in Aus didn't take part in the British genocide of aboriginal peoples or the later Apartheid/genocide conducted by the sovoreign Common Wealth state of Australia.

People keep blithering on about rag heads being prone to violence but Northern Europeans (like me) have a well documented history of genocidal mania on every continent known to man.
They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve

SHEIK Taj al-Din al-Hilali has been told not to bother coming back to Australia if he doesn't like his adopted home or its people.

The controversial Muslim leader has again upset many Australians by telling an Egyptian television show that Muslims were more entitled to be in Australia than those with convict heritage.
On the program, he also reiterated his view that the furore which engulfed him when he likened women to uncovered meat was a conspiracy and that Australian courts were anti-Muslim.

Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone today told the sheik to respect Australia or stay away.

"Australians can be forgiven for questioning how seriously Sheik Alhilali takes his citizenship pledge to Australia and its people - a pledge that he shared Australia's democratic beliefs and he respected our rights and liberties," she said.

"...I remind Sheik Alhilali that if he doesn't like Australia, our heritage or our way of life, he doesn't have to come back."

NSW Premier Morris Iemma also urged the Sydney-based sheik to stop disrespecting Australians.

"He fought very hard to become a resident and ... I note that he's overseas, well if he doesn't like Australia and Australians so much, well he can stay where he is," Mr Iemma said.

Acting Prime Minister Mark Vaile labelled the mufti's comments as inappropriate, asking Sheik Hilali why he chose to live in Australia when he did not like its laws.

"Obviously, they were totally inappropriate, as we've come to expect from Sheik Alhilali," he said.

"And most Australians would agree that they are totally inappropriate and dismiss them out of hand."

The Muslim cleric said in an interview on Egyptian television that Australian Muslims were more entitled to the country than those with a convict heritage.

He also said Australian law guaranteed freedoms "up to a crazy level", when reportedly referring to anti-Muslim courts and the harsh sentencing of a Muslim gang rapist in Sydney.

Senator Vanstone dismissed the mufti's comments and questioned his commitment to Australia.

She said her office had fielded a large number of complaints about the cleric's statements.

"Australians can be forgiven for questioning how seriously Sheik al-Hilali takes his citizenship pledge to Australia and its people - a pledge that he shared Australia's democratic beliefs and he respected our rights and liberties," she said.

"...I remind Sheik al-Hilali that if he doesn't like Australia, our heritage or our way of life, he doesn't have to come back."

While the number of convicts sent to Australia totalled about 162,000 when transportation ended in 1868, post-WWII migration program brought more than six million migrants from 200 countries.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

CONTROVERSIAL mufti Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali may be blissfully unaware of the fallout caused by his latest comments, with his family concerned the news may damage his health, a long-term friend says.

Islamic Friendship Association president Keysar Trad today said it appeared the sheik was trying to justify why he lived in Australia.

"I don't believe that he intended to take a swipe at Australian society, I got the impression that he was trying to justify living here to a person that was probing him," said Mr Trad, who usually acts as the mufti's spokesman.

The sheik made his latest gaffe on Egyptian television, and also accused Australian courts of being anti-Muslim.

His remarks have sparked a storm of condemnation by politicians and community groups.

But Mr Trad said the comments appeared to be a "slip of the tongue".

"You can see some of his comments are clear generalisations that would certainly not be his views," said Mr Trad, who in the past has said the mufti's controversial remarks had been misinterpreted or misunderstood.

Mr Trad said he believed the sheik was trying to justify living in Australia during the interview.

"Those offensive remarks were made when the interviewer challenged him on why he chooses to stay in Australia," Mr Trad said.

"He was about to explain why he stays here despite all the controversy."

The cleric has been under pressure to step down since he sparked outrage by likening immodestly dressed women to uncovered meat and suggesting they invited sexual assault in a sermon in Sydney last September.

The sheik was hospitalised in October last year amid calls for his resignation.

While he had not spoken to Sheik Alhilali about the latest controversy, Mr Trad said he had communicated with the mufti's daughter, who is also in Egypt.

He said the sheik's family did not want to tell him about the public outrage because they feared for his health.

"I've been communicating with his daughter and she wasn't particularly keen on telling him because he is unwell," Mr Trad said.

"He would certainly be upset by the controversy because if you viewed the entire interview you can see by his mannerisms that he did not mean to offend anybody," Mr Trad said.

The sheik, who has been overseas since November, was due to return to Australia at the end of next week, but Mr Trad said his trip may be extended.

"His daughter wants him to stay there longer as she is staying there longer and because she doesn't want him to fly back into the controversy,'' he said.

The sheik's comments have sparked a chorus of disapproval. Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone Vanstone dismissed the mufti's comments and questioned his commitment to Australia.

However Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has brushed off the mufti's remarks this morning.

"I don't think people are really taking him terribly seriously any more, this sort of nonsense about convicts and so on," he said on ABC radio.

"Look, I'm a South Australian. South Australia was never a convict colony, so, you know, I'm very relaxed about what people say about convicts."

    Muslim reaction

Muslim groups have distanced themselves from the sheik's latest shocking comments.

Kuranda Seyit, executive director of the Forum on Australia's Islamic Relations (FAIR), today said the comments were the sheik's extreme personal opinions and did not represent the views of the majority of the Muslim community.

"I would like to reiterate to all Australians, including our people of Anglo-Saxon heritage, that there is no substance to the idea that Muslims have more of a right to Australia than the early settlers," he said.

"We are all Australian and we should all respect and support one another as Australians."

Mr Seyit said he was saddened the mufti had made more divisive comments and suggested the Lebanese community consider "sending him out to an early pasture".

"We are all just shell-shocked. Muslims just want to get along and be a part of the nation, not as outsiders whom others only see with disdain," he said.

The president of the Muslim Women's National Network of Australia, Aziza Abdel Halim also voiced her disapproval.

"Unfortunately, the sheik does not understand Australia's history as many of the early Australians were good and loyal nation-builders," Ms Halim said.

Mr Kerkyasharian said: "To go overseas and say there is no freedom for Muslims in Australia is absolutely outrageous and I'm sure that the vast majority of Muslims in Australia do not agree with him.

"They would rather have him shut his mouth and not say any of these things."

Speaking on Macquarie radio, Mr Kerkyasharian urged the Muslim community to consider whether the controversial cleric was the right man to lead them.

"We (the CRC) have got a position of saying we accept the community as they are, but they (the Muslim community) really have to think about it.

"(Sheik Hilali) is a man who purports to be the leader of the Muslim community and he is doing the community a gross injustice.

"It's about time we all united together and said to this guy: 'Enough is enough, keep your mouth shut and sit back in your chair'."

Islamic Friendship Association president Keysar Trad, a close friend of the mufti, said some of the cleric's comments were "ill-advised".

NSW Community Relations Commission (CRC) chairman Stepan Kerkyasharian branded the mufti's outburst outrageous.

The cleric has been under pressure to step down since he sparked outrage with his comments in a sermon in Sydney in September, at that time likening immodestly dressed women to uncovered meat and suggesting they invited sexual assault.

While the number of convicts sent to Australia totalled about 162,000 when transportation ended in 1868, post-WWII migration program brought more than six million migrants from 200 countries.

He has rights, yes. But in this day and age, we don't need some whacko inflaming an already inflamed situation. As in most countries, the Australian Muslims by and large accept the Australian way of life and we are more than happy to accept them and their way of life. The problems start when dickheads like him try to drive a wedge between the cultures which causes suspicion and alienation. That we don't need, rights be buggered!!
