Thailand: High Ranking Customs Official Physically Abuses Airport Security

Thai-ASEAN News Network - High Ranking Customs Official Physically Abuses Airport Security

High Ranking Customs Official Physically Abuses Airport Security

    UPDATE : 11 January 2012

Anyone think abuse of power is a rampant occurrence in Thailand? Well, this story will prove you right. A video clip has been making rounds on social networks in Thailand. The clip was posted on You Tube by someone who calls themselves “Bilingual Thailand”. The poster claims that this video clip was taken from footage of a close circuit camera in an airport. Stopping short of naming which airport the clip was taken from, “Bilingual Thailand” claims that the older gentleman wearing glasses is a high ranking official in the Customs Department who refused to go through the airport's normal security checks.

In the 1.14 minute long clip, airport security personnel tried to use a metal detector on this particular gentleman, but the said gentlemen immediately refused and continued to tell the airport personnel off. After which, he boxed the official's ears and continued with his tirade as dumbfounded onlookers watched.

“Bilingual Thailand” includes their own comment in the caption saying that just because some people have high ranking titles does not mean they have high intellect. They go on to comment about how sad it is that high ranking Thai officials like to flex their muscles when dealing with lower ranking officials, but once they walk off Thai soil, they become closed-lipped mice themselves.

In the latest development, the secretary general of the Customs Department has suspended the civil servant in the clip and has launched an investigation into the matter. The investigation is said to be complete within 30 days.

    Translated from ข่าวไทยรัà¸à¸[at]à¸[at]นไลน์

    (vid at the link)
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

This was the morning news' big clip. The dirtbag deserves to be fired for this if not jailed. Personally, I think people like this in Thailand should just be killed to better the nation. They are the whole complete Thai problem. Get rid of all of them and their families and Thailand can finally start moving forward.

This video would do a lot more good leaked to the Western media. If Thailand does not conform to international standards at their airports, maybe the TSA and similar European agencies would be justified in not be allowing flights from there into their airspace.

    good point.

its just been on the thai evening news, they said the high ranking prick has been transferred from his position as head of airport security to a position at the port. an investigation is underway. result within 30 days. public opinion is saying that he should be sacked, his behaviour was completelu unacceptable etc.etc. all sympathies lie with the employee who got hit.

how do you report these things to a uk newspaper, who do you contact?

Police summon C7 custom official for assaulting airport staff

    January 11, 2012 4:58 pm

Police Wednesday issued a summons for a C7 customs official at the centre of a widelycirculated video clip showing him in the act of assaulting an airport securitycheck officer while refusing to be patted down.

Suvarnabhumi Airport superintendent Colonel Nattanan Nanasombat said Sombat Chatchaiyawit, 55, had seven days to respond to the summons.

"If he does not report to police, we will issue an arrest warrant," Nattanan said.

And let's be honest with ourselves. Nothing big will happen. Maybe a 500 baht fine, but most likely nothing at all. This would be a jail sentence in a real country. But in the land of fake nothing at all will be done to Sombat or should his name be Some - Nut?

Deny it all you want Teakdoor members. We live in a country where a deep caste system exists that allows the Thai Chinese to use and abuse the Isaan folk and the other unfortunates (Hill Tribe, Khmer Thais, Burmese, Rohingya etc) that are not born into the privileged Thai Chinese line.

My wife and I were out today and some bubble headed Thai Chinese woman was at the table next to us. She was going on and on and on at how stupid the dirty, poor, uneducated Thais are. How the flood was their fault. How the country is a mess because of them. She loudly spoke to some wimpy, effeminate Thai Chinese "man" that was with her that if was not for the Thai Chinese the Thais would still be riding elephants and running about naked.

Slavery was abolished long ago in the Thai courts, however it still exists in the Thai Chinese mind and unfortunately the Thais that kowtow to them. Funny the word kowtow comes from the Chinese word ketou - bowing so low your head touches the ground.

If he were sacked, it would certainly improve my opinion of Yingluck and the new Government.
