Bill Maher is not one of my favorite people either. He is as crazy as his good friend Ann Coulter.

A point ignored by most people in the midst of all the hysteria. Bailout money was indeed "forced" on banks which did not need it. This was done so that the appearance of a level playing field could be created....in that there was fear the banks that did need bailouts would see a massive run against them, so they had to make it look like all banks were in the same mess. Probably a wise move as it turned out.

If you happen to shoot yourself in the foot, it's best not to shoot yourself in the other foot. One good foot is considerably better than no feet....

You can Pffft and talk conspriricy crap as much as you like, but it is a fact. Wells Fargo as one very clear example did not need or want any TARP money. (the CEO was vehmently opposed to it) .....but they were bullied into taking it anyway, for the reasons cited in my post.....now go back and play with your conspiricy videos and stay out of discussions dealing with reality.....or at least try to deal with the substance of other peoples posts instead of cluttering up the whole thread with oversized fonts in yellow and using isolated words and half sentences as trolling bait.... I don't see anyone suggesting that the banks were poor or innocent.... but many of them did not need bailout money.....period.

^Without looking it up, I think the government did force some of the biggest banks to take TARP money. Mind you, it wasn't this administration but the last who did.

What I am not sure about is if they paid the money back.

Bill Moyers served under both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and was the 13th White House Press Secretary under the latter president. He has had an almost 50 year long career as journalist. He is neither a hack nor a loser. Simply idiotic comments to make about a man who has distinguished himself in ways that you right wing sock puppets could only dream of.

I would put him up against any of your muppet fox news broadcasters any day.

You don't really need to look it up. Paulon and company met with the ten largest banks CEO's and laid out the plan to bail out the "troubled" banks. If only the "troubled" banks had been given TARP funds they were concerned about the lack of confidence that it would create and that those banks would be targeted in a big way and caused to fail....creating an even more damaging situation.

In the case of Wells Fargo...(the one I used as an example), apparently they have paid back the $25 billion TARP money plus a very substantial dividend. ...although they have also been accused of using TARP money to buy out Wachovia and some other things. So what I ask? If they pay it back with a bonus to the taxpayer, who cares? If the government is going to twist your arm to take a load of taxpayers money, you might as well try to do something with it before you have to give it back.

I'm not defending any of the banks, or anybody else for that matter.....I'm just stating what happened......but of course being a "comrade" that would not be something Hansuman would understand or accept.....there always has to be a plot or some hidden agenda...

There is no point in providing "links" to someone who does not accept anything from the media, internet or any other source, unless it comes specifically from from one of his conspiricy sites which of course have a complete monolopy on truth and accuracy..

Besides; non of us are on trial here. As far as I'm concerned if you can't accept or believe what I, or anyone else writes, feel free to ignore it. I don't have to prove every frigging thing I say, by cutting and pasting endless clippings which will then be contradicted by somebody else's clippings.... I don't expect anyone else to do this either. This is a forum, where people exchange ideas, argue, troll, and have some fun.....it's not a courtroom and we are not under oath.

Wait for it.....here comes building 7 again, and the Boxer rules.......

AFAIC, readers can't be reminded enough about the total fraudulence of the underlying post-9/11 War On Terror Hoax, which has been the pretext for the tyrannical police-state rollouts & bankster looting of Western nations domestically, and their illegal & Treasury-busting wars for Israel, internationally!

While I'm here, please tell me why taxpayers must pay such unjust salaries, benefits and pensions to uneducated, ill-mannered, government union workers? SEIU makes ALOT of $. If obama loves the OWS filth so much, why not create a OWS department? Make the taxpayers fund them to occupy some government office space; no diff than most govt employees.

Actually, that was a pretty good quality rant. I'd give it at least a 5/10.

If you'd managed to work a Soros reference into it I'd have rated it a solid 6. Good job.

A small item for all those who think that nobody from the financial sector ever gets arrested, charged or punished........oh and don't forget Bernie Madhoff and the Enron CEO etc etc etc..

    Basil Katz
NEW YORK (Reuters) - At least two senior hedge fund employees were being arrested as part of the government's sweeping probe into insider trading, people familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

The arrests reflect a widening of the government's long-running probe into the alleged sharing of confidential information on publicly traded corporations with hedge fund managers and analysts. In the biggest case so far, onetime billionaire Raj Rajaratnam was convicted of insider trading and is now serving an 11-year prison term.
Anthony Chiasson, who co-founded the Level Global Investors hedge fund, is among those expected to face charges, and is turning himself in to authorities, one of the people said.

Todd Newman, who headed technology trading for Diamondback Capital Management from Boston, has also been arrested, another person said.
Newman had been placed on leave of absence in 2010 and subsequently was let go by that firm. Reuters in November reported the government's interest in Newman.
Overall, charges against at least four people are expected to be unveiled on Wednesday, the people said. The charges are expected to be filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
Jon Horvath, who is currently employed at Sigma Capital Management, a unit of Steven A. Cohen's $14 billion hedge fund SAC Capital, was also arrested, one of the people said. A spokesman for SAC Capital could not immediately be reached for a comment. The identity of the fourth person could not immediately be confirmed.
The people declined to be named because of a lack of authority to speak about the arrests. Lawyers for Chiasson, Newman and Horvath did not immediately respond to requests for a comment or could not immediately be reached.
More than 50 people have been arrested or charged in overlapping federal insider trading probes that were first unveiled in October 2009. Most of these people have pleaded guilty or been convicted.
Many of the cases have been based at least in part on the use of government wiretaps authorized by federal judges.
Four hedge fund firms -- Level Global, Diamondback, Loch Capital Management and Barai Capital Management -- were raided by the FBI in late 2010 as part of the insider-trading probe. Level Global, Loch and Barai have since folded.
Rajaratnam, founder of the Galleon Group, remains the best-known investor implicated in the probe. A jury convicted him of fraud and conspiracy charges last May.
Rajat Gupta, a former chief of the consulting firm McKinsey & Co and director of both Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Procter & Gamble Co, has been charged with providing illegal tips to Rajaratnam. He is fighting those charges.

The #Occupy criminal movement has put together one heck of a record:

    - 9 deaths, 5 found dead in tents, One found dead after 2 days
    - 2 murders
    - Tens of millions of dollars in damages, layoffs, vandalism, law breaking
    - Multiple Rapes
    - Thousands of arrests
    - Public masturbation
    - Feces
    - Child molestation and baby abuse

    Check this out:

An #Occupy LA goon was charged with lynching this week. Just like the Tea Party, eh?

    US News reported:
Sergio Ballesteros, 30, has been involved in Occupy LA since the movement had its California launch in October. But this week, his activism took an abrupt turn when he was arrested on a felony charge — lynching.

Under the California penal code, lynching is “taking by means of a riot of any person from the lawful custody of any peace officer,” where “riot” is defined as two or more people threatening violence or disturbing the peace. The original purpose of the legal code section 405(a) was to protect defendants in police custody from vigilante mobs — especially black defendants from racist groups.
Whether the police allegation in this case will be pursued by by California’s courts is uncertain. But the felony charge — which carries a potential four-year prison sentence — is the kind of accusation that can change the landscape for would-be demonstrators.
Well, the Ku Klux Klan was a branch of the Democrat Party so in a way this arrest makes some sense.
