    ^ I watched the vid.

One thing Obama and all national politicians do - which I think they shouldn't do - is claim they can "create jobs," or "save jobs," or keep jobs from disappearing.

    Politicians cannot.

Sure, some policies and regulation and incentives and decentives can affect a certain industry,

but every campaign season the lie of "job creation" is touted. This is used to promote the politician.

And candidates blame their opponents for "jobs losses," which is another falsehood.

As for the stimulus: it was an expensive band-aid given to a cancer patient. The bump in GDP growth to 5.7% is temporary.

These jobs lost won't be coming back.

Job creation, much come, from the private sector.

An overly strong currency kills export jobs and competes with home production jobs in the domestic market.
Obama is doing everything he can to devalue the $US with his governments spend, borrow and print policy (as would the Republicans) but the worse things get in the world economy the more international investors run for the safety of the $US hegemony.

The only way USA is going to get back on track with full employment is to get rid of the $US hegemony experiment. But its a double edged sword for the politicians as it would mean inflation and a drop in living standards for the overall general population. People have become accustomed to living above the countries means and any politician who tells them they have to take a step backwards will get voted out of office very swiftly. People want an instant fix. Better for the politicians of both persuasions to try to undermine the value of the $US by stealth rather to come right out and say the country has been too greedy and now is time to pay for its excesses of the previous decades.

Open support for the ditching of the $US hegemony would be political suicide, but I am sure politicians both Democrat and Republican are working towards that ends.

Lying sacks of shit exposed, Tim Pawlenty edition:
Pawlenty repeats false tale about Obama teleprompter | McClatchy
"President Obama was in a grade school classroom speaking to elementary school children and he was using a teleprompter," Pawlenty said Friday in a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

"You've got to be kidding me," he added. "That's not a joke. That's a real story."

Actually, it's not. The tale spread by bloggers over the Internet and in some media, including the Comedy Channel's Jon Stewart, blended together two Obama appearances Jan. 19 at the Graham Road Elementary School in Falls Church, Virginia, to make it appear he used the teleprompter when speaking to a classroom of 30 pupils.

In reality, Obama sat on a chair and spoke with the pupils without the device.

In a different classroom, he used the teleprompter to give scripted remarks on education to television cameras.

"the usual suspects will post it again in the next few weeks"- that's the point, PH, although I concede that when it comes to the "the brain-dead" it will have no effect. I posted it so that the interested observers who don't follow US politics all that closely (most posters on this board not having much reason to do so, other than the fact that everybody enjoys watching train wrecks) might be better informed.

Heh...looks like you "usual suspects" are becoming the minority supporting the field-hand, eh?

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 22% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. That is the lowest level of strong approval yet recorded for this President.

Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19. The Approval Index has been lower only on one day during Barack Obama’s thirteen months in office (see trends). The previous low came on December 22 as the Senate was preparing to approve its version of the proposed health care legislation. The current lows come as the President is once again focusing attention on the health care legislation.
Currently, 39% of voters nationwide favor the health care plan proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats. Fifty-eight percent (58%) are opposed.

    asinine details?

first, you incorrectly stated through which door the dalai lama left the white house.

whether this was due to simple ignorance or disingenuousness matters not....the point is that your claim was thoroughly and soundly refuted.

then you were feigning outrage that obama didn't have a press conference with the dalai lama in the rose garden.

you didn't seem to realize that it's februrary....and washington dc recently got ~4 feet of snow dumped on it.

if you were better informed, the rest of us wouldn't have to focus on what you refer to as 'asinine details'.

Oops. The libbies have got a mole in the GOP. Drats, foiled again.

Bipartisan jobs bill advances past GOP filibuster

A bipartisan jobs bill cleared a GOP filibuster on Monday with critical momentum provided by the Senate's newest Republican, Scott Brown of Massachusetts. The 62-30 tally to advance the measure to a final vote on Wednesday gives both President Barack Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats a much-needed victory - even though the measure in question is likely to have only a modest boost on hiring.

Brown and four other Republicans broke with GOP leaders to advance the measure. Most other Republicans voted in favor of the filibuster because of strong-arm tactics by Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. The bill is likely to enjoy far broader GOP support on Wednesday when it's put to an up-or-down vote.

    what's this about?

    what 'strong arm tactics'?

and does anyone really think these alleged 'strong arm tactics' were the reason the republican senators voted to filibuster?

    please.

CNN poll: 52% say Obama doesn't deserve reelection in 2012 - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room-
Yes, apparently this is being mega hyped by Drudge. Lets spoil the party, and compare to dubya -

Matt Drudge is currently blaring this headline about a new CNN poll (PDF):

CNN SHOCK POLL: MAJORITY SAY OBAMA DOESN'T DESERVE 2ND TERM

Actually, the poll isn't especially shocking. As The Hill points out, "52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn't deserve reelection in 2012" -- a number that is almost identical to the proportion who disapprove of the job he's doing (50%).

For context, a Fox News poll in August 2001 asked the following question about George W. Bush:

Considering how President (George W.) Bush has performed so far, do you think he deserves to be reelected or would the country probably be better off with someone else as president?

The results? 36% said Bush deserved to be reelected, 42% said the country would be better off with someone else, and 22% said it depends or weren't sure. These numbers are actually worse than Obama's relative to the 55% approval/32% disapproval numbers the Fox poll showed for Bush.

Still not ready to move on? The post was about Obamasiah, not The Bushman
