    Hmm.
It conforms rather well to the image of the mean-spirited leeches who live at others' expense and sue everybody in sight.

There isn't just the one stereotype of the rich scheming Zionist, he has lower class brethren who are less skilled in veiling their evil intend and closeness to the animal kingdom in conduct.

After all they are relatives of the smelly raghead Arabs who equally comprise of the base and brute masses with openly displayed and acted upon ill-intend towards humanity, and those who mask their true nature behind a fassade of wealth, education and an assumed appearance of being 'moderates'.

Uh huh...as a people. The Chosen Ones? Not in today's indoctrined consciousness. Purely a political identity.

It is not my place to define Jewishness, however the concept of "a people" seems widely accepted by the Jewish community.

The Israel MFA's website gives a workable definition:
"For the purposes of this Law, "Jew" means a person who was born of a Jewish mother or has converted to Judaism and is not a member of another religion."

Note the smilie at the end of my post. Just kidding around in the general spirit of the previous batch of comments.

I apologise if I have caused offense with anything I posted.

I think, to what extent a jewish person identifies with another jewish person would require a fair amount of study and honest feedback. It is easy when you are dealing with two people of the same nationality and background, perhaps who attend the same synagogue.

But what does a Hassidic jew feel he has in common with a secular jew, say working in Wall St or Hollywood? A right wing Settler with an ultra orthodox anti-Zionist? Caucasian Askenazi with Semitic Sephardim, or even a black Ethiopian jew? Religious with agnostic or atheist? Orthodox with Reform? Born with converted? And so on.

A 'people' perhaps, but a very diverse and disparate people in many respects.

Most of the jews I've met have been smart, shrewd, wealthy and cultured.
I've never seen the dirty, angry, aggressive types some people here describe. Or maybe I have, but assumed they were british.

It is a stereotype which has been described.

But in reality, I am sure you are right, Jews are smart, shrewd, wealthy and cultured, and Brits dirty, angry, aggressive types.

Sure wouldn't fancy being a universally hated British Jew.

Gallowspole. Unfortunately , I have only just come across this thread.
Your grandparents had probably never visited any of the many War Graves throughout Europe and else where, where there are many people of the Jewish Faith interred. The American Cemetery at Omaha Beach probably holds the remains of more followers of Judaism than any other single war cemetery. If anyone has any doubts on the matter, then I would humbly suggest a trip to and a slow walk around the two cemeteries at Kanchanaburi!

Much the same as on the battlefields of France and Belgium in the First World War!
