The authorities will not persecute those Wagner fighters who took part in the rebellion, given their front-line merits.

Wagner Boss Had Stash of Gold Bars and Bogus Passports, Report Says

The former hot dog vendor turned warlord who led a chaotic armed uprising against the Russian government this weekend had a stash of phony passports, “white powder,” and gold bars in his St. Petersburg office, according to local reports. Federal investigators also uncovered firearms and stacks of U.S. dollars in the office used by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the local news outlet Fontanka reported in a since-deleted article. The article was deleted shortly after the Kremlin announced a deal had been reached and criminal charges against the Wagner Group founder would be dropped. Several other news agencies picked up the story, however. At least three passports were reportedly found featuring photos of Prigozhin and the aliases Vladimir Bobrov, Dmitry Geiler, and Oleg Semenov.

^ Agreed. Prigozhin seems to have had the support of many Russians.

I don’t understand how exile in Belarus will keep Prigozhin safe or keep him from instigating more rebellion.

His agreement is also baffling, what was he offered?

Perhaps he should avoid drinking any cups of tea offered while in exile.

Kremlin: criminal charges against Wagner Group’s Yevgeny Prigozhin dropped

Criminal charges against the Wagner Group’s Yevgeny Prigozhin for inciting an armed uprising have been dropped, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

According to Peskov, Prigozhin “will leave for Belarus”. It is unknown what he will do there.

The spokesman also stressed that the authorities would not persecute the Wagner mercenaries who had taken part in the mutiny.

Those mercenaries who had refused to take part in Prigozhin’s advance on Russian territory will sign contracts with the Russian Defence Ministry, Peskov says.

On 23 June, Prigozhin announced a de facto armed conflict with the Russian Defence Ministry. The FSB opened a criminal case against him for inciting an armed uprising. Earlier today, Prigozhin’s forces took control of Russia’s southern cities of Rostov-on-Don and Voronezh and started advancing onto Moscow.

In the evening, Belarus’ Alyaksandar Lukashenka stated that he had held talks with Prigozhin and managed to convince the insurgent to stop the advance on Moscow. Later, Prigozhin confirmed that the Wagner Group forces would return to their field camps.

Perhaps the FSB had his family. Can't see any other reason really, as he had the bull by the horns. If that's the case then this isn't over.

How did Lukashenko get involved and what has been promised? The only thing that I can think of is that Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov from the Russian MoD have been, or will be, removed fr office with immediate effect.

Perhaps Putin didn't realise the seriousness of the situation when he made his broadcast this morning. It would be difficult for him to switch from backing the MoD to backing Prigozhin but that's what he appears to have done.

Russia might as well forget Ukraine at this point and get their own shit in order.

    Confusing and rather anti-climatic.

The chef seems to have lost his balls at the vital moment, he is brown bread one must think.

Putin looks weak and just plain awful, but will likely triple down on "it's all the Ukranian nazis and the West's fault that we have been invaded and have to protect ourselves...". The vultures are surely circling over him, but he might clamp right down (with many folks going missing and falling down stairs) - who knows at this point?

The Wagner fighters have been shafted by their boss, they'll all be sent to the front lines and either shelled by the Russians or sent on suicide missions; doubtful that any will survive.

Let's see what happens to Shoigu and Gerasimov - they were nowhere to be seen or heard...

U.S. Spy Chiefs Had Intel About Prigozhin’s Move on Putin

The White House was briefed earlier this month about intelligence from spy agencies that indicated Yevgeny Prigozhin was plotting a move against Vladimir Putin, The Washington Post reports. One U.S. official told the Post “there were enough signals to be able to tell the leadership … that something was up.” U.S. intelligence chiefs think Putin also had a head’s up—“definitely more than 24 hours ago,” the official said—and it’s unknown why he didn’t make a pre-emptive move.

I should imagine Piggozhin has had a pretty big bung from Putin to fuck off, after all, he is just a mercenary.

But he shouldn’t plan on a long retirement.

Not quite the "Berlin Wall epic shit" that bsnub predicted. It made for an interesting 24 hours though.

Except I never said that, so feel free to makes some more shit up you lair.

Pretty odd for Pergozin to just stop so close to Moscow, and I do not think anyone would have predicted this outcome.

This episode isn't over yet, or at least the repercussions aren't. It could still end up being "epic Berlin Wall shit".
