A But Will Walker-Arnott, senior investment director at Charles Stanley, tells Wake Up to Money: "The first announcement was actually made back in October 2018 when he decided that they were going to start making an electric vehicle and they decided that that was going to be centred in Singapore - its manufacturing has been based overseas since 2003."
He says: "In the UK, it was really where the research and development is founded and that will continue Dyson has made a statement saying that he will continue to invest in the UK."

Im betting his UK based R&D people are pretty well paid too.![]()
Dyson have done their manufacturing overseas since 2003, UK for research so nothing changing apart from change of address for HQ. I was conned and lied to as I was told hair dryers and vacuum cleaners were made in the UK so I voted remain so they would still be made here now I learn they've been made over seas since 2003, should have voted Brexit. Dumb fuk remoaners always good for a laugh.
‘This is staggering hypocrisy for Brexit-backing businessman James Dyson. It is utterly unbelievable that the business face of Brexit is moving yet another part of his business out of the UK.
“James Dyson can say whatever he wants but he is ditching Britain. This can only be seen as a vote of no confidence in the idea of Brexit Britain.”
When asked whether Dyson could still be referred to as one of Britain’s best success stories, he said the firm should now be referred to as a “global technology company”.
In 2014, when Dyson promised £1.5bn of invesment in the UK, the then prime minister, David Cameron, described the company as a “great British success story”. There was no comment from Number 10 on Tuesday.
Nearly got the full Muppet Band, where's Gent?
Dry your Brexitears my little darlings...
You are going to lose that bet. He does the same as most UK companies and uses graduates on starter salaries. The good ones leave and go to Europe or America, while the mediocre move into management. Check out his job vacancies and salaries. It's pretty much standard for the UK. Those senior engineer salaries aren't the worst, by any means, but way off French, German or American wages.
Yep a multi billion pound company moving 2 staff from Britain to Singapore is ditching Britain. Where do these fukwits come from?
Yep, a billion pound company moving its HQ to Singapore to avoid paying tax in the UK ..is ditching Britain in her hour of need.
To rub salt in the wound and turning the hypocrisy up to 11, the owner is known as the business face of Brexit from being a very vocal Brexiteer and patriot.
And these are the type of people you say will take to the streets and riot to defend Brexit?![]()
^Regurgitating the Dyson spin machine: we're moving the company to Singapore but nothing is actually changing![]()
You are an uneducated clueless fukwit who believes the only difference between the poll tax and the current council tax was the changing of a few words. Do you think I would even begin to try and explain corporation tax to you? Any chance you can restrict your posting to the games room?
Looks like a stampede is on...
Some of Britain’s biggest corporate names have dealt a blow to Theresa May by pressing the panic button and reorganising their business operations in case of a no-deal Brexit. Sir James Dyson, the Brexit-backing billionaire, inflicted the biggest embarrassment for the prime minister when his company announced plans to “future-proof’” itself by moving its headquarters to Singapore. Our business columnist, Nils Pratley, says Sir James has chosen the moment of maximum Brexit pain for the PM to make the decision and must explain himself or people will think he is guilty of hypocrisy. Dyson was followed by historic cross-Channel ferry company P&O, which said its fleet would be re-registered under the Cypriot flag, and Sony said it was moving its European base from London to Amsterdam. The CBI said the corporate alarm bells showed that a no-deal Brexit “must be ruled out immediately”.
I don't really know why UK employment is so high, yet production isn't greatly improved. I've read a few theories that have been banded about but none point to anything convincing. It appears to be the result of many reasons and independent of the Brexit vote.
I am also not sure if people are actually better off because of the high employment. For example, how many two parent breadwinners, part-timers, and pensioners does it include?
The Tories are fudging the figures by forcing people to work in exchange for benefit or face sanctions if they refuse, so UK companies are taking on free(or tax payer funded) workers. A lot of these people being forced into work are sick/disabled. Also, a lot of unemployed have been decanted into private "training" companies and the Tories use these companies to pay benefit by proxy so they can remove these people from the unemployment list.
It's all smoke and mirrors.
