One thing that I really dislike is German protectionism when it comes to trade. There are too many examples to list from consumer goods to government contracts and it affects everyone, small to large scale. The UK have battled away at free trade within the EU and made many improvements but Brexit will see it all slip away into a brief historical might-have-been.
If Brexit had been about the principle of free trade and how other EU nations have undermined that fundamental British belief since the mid 19th Century I might have gone along with it...
...but it wasn't...
...it was based on a bunch of lies fed to the public as facts that have sinced been disproved.
Hete's hoping that Greece, Turkey, or Romania rise from the ashes and control the current masters who have dominated and failed for too long.
there is a growing call for a new referendum, can't let that happen
Can't happen and won't, May made that clear, which leaves me wondering which way to vote next time. But she has until we leave to change her mind, and anytime after that either she or a future PM could decide to strengthen the democratic process with another referendum.
UK will have a border with the EU in Ireland
If you wish to control 3rd country people you need checks
If you wish to prevent smuggling you need checks
If Paramilitaries see checks smuggling will generate their income raison d'etre
I have listened to Leo Varadka and Teresa May and Jacob Rees-Mogg and Michel Barnier none of whom seem to have a solution ready in 6 months that will satisfy all.
lest we forget "Trump said Ukraine started the war"
Few weeks ago in a discussion with Farage, Juncker stated that the EU must have a hard border, and "if" needed "we" will install one. Then he gave a lecture about the importance of "rules," and when Farage asked him about the number of times they have broken their own "rules" with impunity, he replied to the effect that 'some' rules are ok to breach.
Can't wait to get out, or for a second referendum.
There's already quite significant smuggling going on between North and South, particularly with alcohol. The North was already cheaper prior to the referendum, and with the subsequent fall of the pound against the Euro, alcohol is significantly cheaper.
Macron has rejected Maybot deal as being unacceptable in the terms,
hard brexit here we go![]()
Let the Union-Jack waving morons fall on their faces and be arse-raped by les Frogs & ze Yermans.![]()
You should rephrase that Stroller, or the Belgians will want out too.
Indeed, just get on with it.
Politicians milking it as usual.
At least when we are eventually out, we'll have less parasites to finance![]()
Doesn't help if you have a PM that insists on doing it the "British" way, by taking a knife to a gunfight.
Anyway, the Belgian will be along shortly to calmly and cogently explain why as of yesterday the unelected democratic EU dictators joined in chorus yet again for May to hold a second referendum...which obviously shows they can't wait to be rid of us.
They seem to have the utter shambles of that first referendum pretty sussed to me.
Macron is going further and calling for others to leave if they don't like EU terms
about fooking time someone says it as it is,
we need to reduce that number of 27 to a more reasonable one, like 20 or even 17
need to remove 7 more liabilities like the UK,
It seems the EU tyrants still haven't figured that Brexit occurred in the first place precisely through the notion that we can do as we please and fcuk off if you don't like it.
All they had to do was give Cameron a few cosmetic concessions to be snatched back later on in their traditional underhand fashion, and there never would have been a referendum.
Poor things, will never learn, doomed...!
