This could make for an interesting thread all on its own... as long as tinfoil beanies and the little propellers were left at home.

I'd say you'd have to start by comparing the 70 years of the pax Americana with the 70 years that preceded it.

So 1946 to present versus 1875 to 1945.

Yeah. I thought not. Reality is a bitch and those who do not learn from history can say anything they like in a debate.
Imbecile argument. America has been the foremost warmonger since 1945, that's the fact, and the world was lucky that the USSR constituted a counterweight against this predator for a while. There is no doubt about it that the US would have nuked more countries just like Japan without the Pax Sovietiana.

Since America took over the reins as global hegemon, there hasn't been nearly as much trouble as back in the day when your "superior race" and the rest of the menschen on the European peninsula had a say in things.

Facts just hurt sometimes, don't they?

You became the global hegemon in 1990, and the European Union relieved you of this position a mere few years later. What do you have in America? The means of destruction. We have the means of production. Get over it, you don't count for much anymore.

I just don't believe ol' Rainfall is a German. Maybe an Ostie, but never the regular kind.

How very scholarly of you, BF.

Maybe you could give us a comparison of, say, deaths in war (civilian and military) for the period of European hegemony 1875-1945 and in the American period 1946 till now.

You might also want to include a comparison of deaths etc. in late colonial conflicts involving France, Great Britain and Holland since 1945 and compare them with the purely American neo-imperialist adventures. Please keep in mind that Vietnam was inherited from the French and the complete fuck-up in the ME was the pure product of Anglo-Frog colonialism.

heh, telfer, take a break, you don't have to be an arrogant fool all your life. You made the claim first so off you trot and you find some evidence for your claims for once rather than sitting trying to pick others apart, and failing that being nasty about disabled people.

Since the subject is "War in Iran likely", I'd suggest not before the results of the forthcoming election when Hadmydinnerjacket's replacement is picked.

Given that the Guardian council have whittled out all the reformists, and some of the candidates are pro-Nuclear, that could increase the chances of the US and Israel bombing certain parts of Iran off the map.

How Iran responds is anyone's guess. If they respond to a surgical strike with random hits on their neighbours, they are probably looking at an Afghanistan-style carpet bombing, and we know how America's foray into that country has turned out (i.e. a complete waste of money and time).

I saw on Al Jazeera recently where the young, educated Iranians really want rid of the status quo since 1989.
The arab spring I know they are not arab), would be doing them a great favour but they tried it in 2009 and the students and protesters got butchered before they could get a foothold.
It is a terrible shame that the old religous wankers with this whackinhead or whatever his name is, is denying them a decent free future.
I really hope it doesn't end with an attack on their nuclear sites but can we really allow this leadership to posess WMD ?

Yet it is a fact. Manufacturing in Germany is as big as in France, UK and Italy combined, and almost rivals the US'. Got a couple of adjusted world maps for you.

Car exports (exports minus imports). If a country imports more than it exports, it's not shown on the map (like the US). Germany and Japan constitute 2/3 of the global exports.

    Chemicals exports

    Machines exports

Here's one that surprised me. Number of armed forces at war between 1945 and 2004.
