Why not?
Actually in Thailand amongst Thais obviously now most women keep their maiden name and keep "miss" on their ID card as the head officer told us or better my wife in the ampuer. I would be well pissed off.
They keep their maiden name so when you've bought the house, the land and the car they can fuck you off and get another stupid farang.
They could do that regardless, you're obviously pretty new around here.Quote:

My wife took my name, couldn't change it quick enough, think back in 2002 women had to take their husbands name, although i could be wrong on this.
She took my name. Was up to her, I didn't care either way. We live out in the boonies of Bkk so I was well impressed when the local registrar, or whatever the title would be here, recognized the name as being French and knew what it meant.
My wife has her maiden name on all the Thai stuff and my name on all her UK stuff.
Marriage never registered here, we both believe the meddling little shits can fuck right off out of it.
mine too!
didn't take my name but she took everything else!!!
seriously:
wtf is it about thai women who marry farang and keep their maiden names?
more importantly:
why , if they are serious about the marriage, do they prefer to keep their maiden name?
this is NOT normal amongst thais, and any farang who hears any bullshit or who's "wife" won't take his name and change her name on her thai id doc. should chuck the worthless bitch out on the street.
why does it make any difference, it is up to the couple. The option is there but it is hardly anything to do with being "serious about marriage"!Quote:

Changing a name in Thailand is a bit of a hassle, so if it is not important, no need to do it. In law, nothing changes
I suppose you could have changed your name from Tsico, anything would have been better

you missed the point.
it is UNUSUAL for a that woman not to take a thai husband's surname.
it is NOT unusual for a thai wife not to take a farang husband's surname.
it is NOT unusual for a thai wife of a gullible farang to screw him over for everything he has.
insisting that your thai wife takes the marriage seriously enough to at least change her surname on her id AS SHE WOULD NORMALLY DO IF SHE MARRIED A THAI, is the very least you should expect of her, as a sign of trust and sincerity if nothing else.
^You must mix with the real skanks of Thailand, BOMB ISAAN.
Mine changed hers.
got married in '07 - no change of name. now the wife is here in the UK we will use her surname for our account. My poor credit rating will go unnoticed :D

Will the Mrs have a credit rating being new to the country?
