I think its a bad idea handing your card to Tuktuk drivers full stop. I will pass on that one I think

With muppets like these guys (Scottish and greg) around, the rip off merchants must be rubbing their hands in glee. (And chuckiling under their breath)

Made me laugh my bollocks off, reading the replies. I wonder what view is like from those pedestals.

Thats a card cloning machine, tuk tuks don't carry card readers., Who the fuck uses a CC to pay a tuk tuk?
The driver told me he bought it off a Nigerian chap he met on the Sukhumvit Road. Told him it was the latest model. I hope the poor driver has not been conned.

I use online Barclays and you need to use a hand held PIN sentry reader to access it and type in a different pin number generated by the little device each time online.

And if Barclays suspects the net security connection on the pc isn't up to scratch, you can't log in.

Couldn't log in to my online account anywhere in any net cafes in Thailand last October. Surprise surprise.

Only on my laptop and pc at home is where I log into it anyway. If I wanna know my balance when abroad I call them instead then they call me back (a human being actually answers the phone)

Could be you've given away everything they need to know, not just to go shopping but also to withdraw cash.

In fact if they were motivated and had the means, from just that small amount of data they could rip off your entire identity, and so efficiently that when it comes to the crunch you would need to prove that you are you.
Do you think that chappy could be trying a little subtle irony? Seems that whilst the attempt was OK it fell flat on it's face for some reason.

The only irony I can think of is that anyone handing over their cc to a tuktuk driver shouldn't be in possession of a cc, or for that matter a passport to leave the safety of home.

The strange thing is when i punched my pin number into the machine the thing would not accept it. The kind driver then said give me your pin and i will do it for you. I think it was something to do with the way i was pressing the buttons. Anyway after the driver put in my pin it worked OK.

ROFLMAO!! The Chatuchak market encounter was a belter, the initial Tuk-Tuk encounter was brilliant but this has to be the icing on the cake!!

These are all the rage in Bangkok so I hear. The tuk tuk driver pulls over and walks round to the rear of the vehicle and opens his boot/trunk (English/US). In here is the card machine, next to the gold plated toilet you can also conveniently use while travel around the busy streets.

Next year's tuk tuk models are said to have an on-board jacuzzi with a hostess serving champagne and strawberries!
