    That SRX looks sweet.

I saw a Honda FTR today, a 223 cc flat tracker style. Might be perfect for my up coming sidecar project......

Or it might be a seventies Honda CB 250/350.

Stay tuned (going to work first.)

It does , other than the cyl heads , didnt HD do a Bmw copy the XA ? ... but this job is watercooled . Interesting.

This was a fine bike to punt , The bimota Sb6 .. Very fast in its day 1100 suzy tweaked , and top of the line suspension and brakes .
Mine found a Kangaroo 3 mins from home after a four hr ride !! Very depressing and the only italian ive crashed ... musta been that suzy engine.

A DKW? Whatever it is it would be worth a lot, even here. Classic bikes in Thailand are worth a lot. I wouldn't mind finding something like that under a house....

It is an LE Velocette. A 200cc water cooled side valve horizontally opposed twin with shaft drive. Lovely little machines to ride, with just the slightest whisper of an exhaust note, not much power, but they do handle beautifully. This particular one is obviously an ex-police motorcycle, as it still has the original mounting frame for the police radio on the rear mudguard, (LE's in police use were known as 'Noddy Bikes'). Where as the 'civilian' version had a PVC covered rectangular pad as a passenger seat.

Looking at the guys pick up you have to wonder how much he paid for it.

Did the Thai coppers use them then? Looks well preserved. Strange, not the usual under the house covered in grandmas bettle nut and chook shit spittle find, looks like he stole it from a museum.

The car it was in was parked out the front of a small bike repair shop. It wouldn't surprise me if the car didn't actually move very much but then I guess he wouldn't leave an expensive bike out the front bike that overnight. I will ask him next time I go past if it is still there.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Yes, I would love to know if it was for sale! Trouble is, the Thais know the value of classic bikes and price them accordingly. It would take many bottles of lao khao and plates of food to shift him the slightest bit.

No. it was our good old 'Plod' back in 'Blighty', that used them. This bike would originally have been a very light grey colour (the modern colour charts show a Dove Grey, that in my estimation is about the right colour). It obviously would not have had the 'Pin striping' either. One handy feature on the LE was the small locking storage box, between the fuel tank and the steering head - you can just make it out in the picture.

Had 2002 H-D Night Train. Had to leave her behind in the middle east. Too expensive to bring here. Damn I miss that bike.

Hey ferret I have married for the third time a long time back.
But that is not the reason for this post.
I'm off to Germany in 2 weeks, intend to buy a bike, probably a BMW, to use as transport as I'll be there for 2 months.
What's the gen on bringing it to Thailand? I have a wife and daughter there, but I'm working in Korea right now.
AND I would like the experts on this thread to give me thier opinion on which model would be the best to bring back. I don't mind the cost provided it doesn't get to 200% the price of the bike.
I have plenty of time as well, can ship it to Korea and carry the parts back to Thailand over a year or two, but then there is the Green Book.
OR would be just cheaper to buy a BMW through the Bangkok Rep???

^ The way I understand it, you'll be hit up for the high import taxes unless your wife imports it, but I assume she has to be in Germany too.

It would be cheaper to buy a bike here in the long run. Yes they are pricey in LOS but compared to the hassle etc it just wouldn't be worth it. To get my H-D here was going to cost the price of the bike again (duty, vat whatever) + shipping and tea money/gifts then go thru getting the registration crap.
