lol America sports cars are like boy bands. Look OK, makes a nice synthesized sound, made of plastic and popular with people who are pretty much clueless about things that matter. Have no reason to believe your New Kid On The Block will be any different.

Yes, it probably won't be any different than the C6 version of the Corvette, which laid waste to nearly every other car out there in terms absolute performance.

I got a good laugh out of this thread- thanks, guys- judging a car's performance by its lap times isn't a good way to judge whether it handles- I had no idea...

    Laguna Seca times, anyone? http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Straight line speed for sure, the US 230ltr 27 turbo cars made of plastic will usually win. Stick a few corners in the mix though and all that power means shit....check out the comparison between the Audi R8 and the Vette which had 120BHP more than the Audi, and still could not keep up with the R8 on a track.

You mean the Top Gear episode where the same driver doesn't run the cars back-to-back to show lap times and where Clarkson still recommends the Corvette in the end? Good example.

Yeah - that one where he says the yank car is shit in every possible way, and the only reason he recommends it is because it will kill you. That one. The same one where the car started falling apart as it was being tested.

Really? You think that was a factory-fresh unmolested car? And why didn't they properly run the cars (having the Stig or whomever run them back-to-back) to see real results? Clarkson isn't the fastest guy on the track.

No argument hat the Vette falls short in build quality, though- the price difference has to be made up somewhere.

In any case, that was a five-year-old design- the new version was just released a few hours ago, and it will no doubt be better than its predecessor- let's give the testers a few weeks and see what happens.

Hope so - every car they release they say is the best build quality yet.....and they all fall apart.

The Japs Honda GTR won't fall apart and is the same price...and better.

Don't know about the performance but it's ugly, the yanks are hopeless when it comes to design.
    And then there'...

    ^^^

I like the GT-R, but I'd rather have a ZR-1 for the same money- note the Nissan has one aspect you purport to dislike- it outweighs the Vette by 500 pounds (225kg)- it also gives up over 100hp to the ZR-1- the Vette exceeds it in all performance categories.

Yes, there are better-built cars than the Vette- with that point conceded, which cars out-perform it anywhere close to its price? Add another 50K and what beats it? How about another 100K? It's one of the best performing cars you can buy, and the base price (which I just found) is going to be around $55,000 (34K pounds or 1.665m baht)- amazing- the ZR-1 will be around 125K most likely, but that's still a lot of value for the performance.

Oh how wrong you are. One typo does not a moron make.

Sorry that I disagree with your theory that a yank crap car is good. If they are so good, and so loved by Americans, can we assume that Toyota is an American car then in that they are the most popular car in the USA? Even the Hyundai is more popular than most US cars in the good ole US of Gay.

^^ All style over design - the hall mark of a shit car built by people who have no clue, for a buying public that is likewise as car savvy. There is a reason no one outside of America buys these hunks of crap.

Nice try, straw man- we're talking about performance cars here- what other sports car out-sells the Corvette?

outside of the USA? Most cars do. Inside the US, well there are a lot of uneducated people in the US who like to buy this type of pile of rubbish.

China drive on the right - how many yank crap motors sell there? The Biggest car market in the world

Upon further thought I'm not entirely sure that a Corvette strictly counts as a 'Muscle Car' (or ever has for that matter). More 'Sports' than anything. In either event, in my opinion all these modern iterations are missing a vital bit of soul.

    I'd rather have this:

    over this any day:

But then I'd also take the latter of your run of the mill sedan these days too.

Most sports cars outsell the Vette? No they don't, inside or outside the US (some Porsches might come close)- you're talking about econo-boxes, which has nothing to do with this thread.

I've never, ever seen a corvette on the roads. Ever.

    Ever.

All over UK , Europe, China, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore / HK, and even in Australia who do have a penchant for merican shit.

So where are they all then?
