^Accdg to that BMI calculator, my BMI is 20.3 - I'm OK with that. When my BMI was 22 to 23, I felt sluggish. If I lose too much weight, my face gets too thin & I'll look haggard. So I think BMI of 19.5 to 20.5 is ideal for me.

@david44 - good luck on your eye operation. Wish you all the best. Have you thought of future proofing your home? Ramps or grab bars, etc. My mom uses eye drops - been using it for less than a month. Accdg to her doc, she doesn't need cataract surgery (yet). She was worried about having surgery, anesthesia & developing dementia later on. (We will cross the bridge when we get there.)

@MM - we all have weight fluctuations. We are human and give in to the occasional cheat day or days. You're correct that sometimes work or life is stressful and one doesn't have the energy or motivation to exercise. Don't listen to the Negative Nellies too much. Just continue on your health/ weight loss journey. Good luck!

60lbs lost and put on again is 27+kg

That's a damn shizzload to shift, then to put on.

The avg Canadian woman is 70kg/155lbs, which is surprisingly high in itself. Though not as high as the UK, and of course the US.

    Good luck.

    People with life management skills.

Get an indoor bike, put it in front of the TV.

    Get home from work.

    Snack.

Do 45 minutes while watching TV.

5 minute break to put a yummy mozzarella chicken pasta bake in the air fryer.

Another 45 minutes while watching TV, then scoff it.

    Done. :-)

Burning more calories than you take in means weight loss.

3000 calories of salad and salmon while using 2000 calories = weight gain.

2000 calories of ice cream and doughnuts while using 3000 calories = weight loss.
Yep, have gone back on the OMAD Diet due to putting on KG's being laid up for most of 2023 and this 1st month of 2024.
Have also given up beer, Jack Soda's are the go now.

I presume she has a 9 to 5, or as a primary school teacher, a 9 to 2:30!! With like 4 months of annual holidays!

Well excuuuuuse me for trying to help the poor ̶h̶e̶f̶f̶a̶l̶e̶f̶f̶a̶l̶u̶m̶p̶ ̶ woman.

If one is working like MM is, an indoor bike and doing an hour or so in front of the TV while dinner is air-frying would be a nice bit of life management to fit in some cardio while banging out an episode or two of Sex and The City or Ally McBeal.

^not everyone is lucky to be trust fund baby, Eddie.

I've a friend who's half-German/ half Fil, she's alwayd been bigger than the rest of us (big boned).. I've known her since high school (but she was ahead of me by 2 years). Now, she has hypothyroidism, which doesn't help. I would say that her BMI is probably overweight to obese. She gpes on & off diets. Sometimes she loses weight, sometimes not. She also stress-eats; I've known her to finish a tub of ice cream (~750ml container) in one sitting. She's college educated, she knows what's good & bad for her health. So I know how it is to have weight issues (had them myself, at a time). So I think we all should chill & cut MM some slack. Peace.

BMI isn't that accurate anymore though as it doesn't take muscle into account. So you look at a body builder and it is showing them as into the overly obese category when they really aren't, so fat calipers and DEXA scans, measurements of inches on every body part is a good indicator along with the scale.

I do work out quite a bit, but my point again was that I would rather not eat a ton of carbs or food and then think, oh I'm going to go to the gym and do cardio for 2 hours to burn this off. Exercise and diet complement each other, but diet is most important hands down.

Yeah exactly ! It seems Eddie posts on here like almost 24/7, I don't have the luxury and frankly working with loud, often special needs kids doesn't always make me want to work out after school when I've been on my feet all day and dealing with kids. Thanks Katie, everyone is different, and getting up and trying is a success. The road isn't always a straight path.

Hmm, being a supply teacher for quite awhile, I try to work most summers either online summer school or even retail. So, maybe watch what you are saying as you seem to talk about things you know nothing about in regards to my life.

It doesn't seem like you are helping or the comments from a few others. It is being judgemental and frankly rude.
How come a few others aren't posting their goals but continue to say rude things about me? How much do they weigh? So cut me the slack or on ignore you'll go too.

You must recognize that after day with special needs children, special needs adults may be more than a feast.
You may like to meet my friend Will Power , or consider after medical advice fasting, I can manage 24 hours, however avoid skipping breakfast which with a busy life , rush to get to work can be a false saving as you will like all of us be extra hungry by mid morning or splurge at lunch.

    Gobble selectively is my motto.

Outdoor activity in snowy Quebec /Ontario is probably out most days, I recall in Finland eating lots of carbs on the sof watching tv in nice centrally heated flat where some days my car with snow chains was buried in SNOW entirely , You don't need teh expense of a Peloton or many of those gadgets at the gym, there are heaps of workout videos on utube from gentle Yoga Pilates right thru to Kraft Maga and strengty workouts.

Good luck with it, I had half a bar of choc last night last of teh Xmas gifts, I think best not to have artificial suagrs /treats around just fruit and limit snacking if possible. Not sure if your school offers lunch , probably better prep own and microwave in winter or nicePoke /Salad bowl in summer, I'm listening to Jazz from Toronto right now good luck.

The C-fast plan is the best diet she can do.

About 50 quid a gramme and she'll be buzzing all day at work.

Other than in pretty much every post where I give experienced advice and ideas on how to succeed in your ever failing mission.

You said you don't have time to cycle 40km everyday because you work.

Me: Then buy an indoor bike and do an hour in front of TV each evening while your dinner (a moderate portion of normal food) is cooking.

    You: Whaaaaah.

I had a bacon and egg butty for breakfast and now I'm going for a coffee and cake followed by beers and the rest of last night's kebab later.
