Week 2 of couch to 5km program. Frustrated as I reinjured an old miniscus injury and had to rest for four days....
So determined to run a 5km again after 10 years. Do other activities on my off days like swimming, and weights. Taking the running slowly but surely.

Chill, eat, rest, one hour upperbody at 1:30pm before pre-Halloween party time.
That is not a good programme to follow, IMO. It is too ambitious. From running 1 minute to running 7 minutes non-stop two weeks later is too much of a jump for a real couch potato/beginner, as is going from couch potato to running a 5k race in 6 weeks.
Also, IMO, some of the walking breaks are too long. Your heart rate should be back to normal in less than a minute so walk for 30s to 1min then start running again. Gently add more running and gently reduce the walking time.

If you're building up to run a distance, not a time, then increase the distance.
And do it in steadily increasing distances, until comfortable enough to increase.
Better still, stick to a bicycle.
And of course it isn't a race anyway - it'll be called a fun run or similar.

Thanks, there is a 9 week couch to 5km, that may be a better fit for me. I am not a couch potato at all, I work out four to five days a week normally. The issue is I tore my miniscus 5 years ago (after being bedridden for almost three months due to pneumonia), and had to literally learn to walk again. So, I am taking it slow as running is hard on the knees/joints. I'm leaving the forum to focus on my fitness among other things. ta

Yesterday was morning 30km cycle.
Today was morning 1 hour jog.
Clocked in at almost exactly 7km, a bit off the industry standard of 10km. Should be back there or there abouts in another 8 weeks for the New Year.

Anyway, did you have a good morning workout? you usually do a few laps of that park near the school both of our kids went to I think. 2km a lap iirc. You used to go there at insane o'clock and I used to go after the morning school run so never bumped into each other there.
