    Shoulder surgery

I had the torn tendon in my right shoulder repaired in perth about two years ago.Cost 9K.
Now the left one needs doing and I am considering doing it in thailand.Would I save much money and which hospital would I go to?
Bumrungrad is way over priced nowadays I think.

Try the Suranaree Military Hospital Korat. It's a government hospital and charges bottom prices with great facilities due to it covering a Thai Airbase. http://korat-weekends.blogspot.com/2...-hospital.html

Not a direct answer to your question, but check if they can fix your problem with orthoscopic surgery. I had a shoulder done here in the Philippines a few months ago. Very little pain, hardly visible scar, and most importantly, a really fast healing time.

Bangkok Christian is OK. If you won't be in long the old wing is also OK.

However, I think finding the right people is important.

That being said if it is a conventional procedure with no diagnosis required then where become less important.

This might be helpfull, around about 14 yers ago I was having great pain in my left shoulder, I couldnt raise my are up to shoulder level. I had a cortizone injection in the Uk and it was great for around about 12 years. Last year I started having the same trouble and went to the Dr in the Bangkok hospital in Korat and had another injection. This did improve it and enabled me to raise my ark way up but I still had pain in the upper arm from elbow to shoulder, I thought looks like I will have to just put up with it. ANyway after taking magnesium tablets for cramp in my legs I was surprised to notice that this pain has now gone, for good I hope. I find the Bangkok hospitals to be the cheapest and they also give discount vouchers for your next visit.

Not in Korat it ain't. I've used both Bangkok Hospital and St Mary's. St Mary's is definitely the cheaper of the 2. Both are shit and they use the same doctors. Something I was told when seeing a Dermatologist at St Mary's.
Suranaree Military Hospital out performs both private hospitals by far, price wise and service. But each to their own.

If it were my shoulder, I wouldn't worry too much about paying more at Bumrungrad as opposed to another Thai hospital- I would concern myself with finding the best surgeon.

Assuming Bumrungrad has the best one (considering they probably pay the highest fees that's very possibly the case) I would check their staff list and see if he/she also works at another hospital a few days per week (not uncommon in LOS) where the cost might be lower.

Find the best doc, and then work from there.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Don't take it for granted that because they work in a government hospital they're shite. The surgeon I used at Suranaree Hospital had good credentials and had worked previously in BKK and Canada. http://www.medeguide.com/bura-sindhupakorn

I didn't say that- I wouldn't be surprised if many of the docs at Bumrungrad worked a couple days per week at government hospitals- considering that Bumrungrad is internationally accredited and their staff list is probably easy to search (in English) I think that's a good place to start.

My point was that a good doc is better than a good deal.

No offense taken- I just thought you were posting in reference to what I had written.
