How often do you say that driving, motor biking or walking round Thailand? I just smelt a beef burger cooking, 9.30am and it smells good, I mean really good, I have never said that about Thai food, goto Malaysia and I walk past the Oriental and smell that Indian food, I say, "ermmm, that smells good", never said it with Thai food, drive past a stall thats doing a pad kappow and I normally get chili in my eyes and call him a bastard, the durian stall? Yep plenty of open sewers here so used to that smell.

Is there any Thai food that actually smells good?

Isaan pork sausages being grilled on charcoal smell OK.
Of course you're most likely to encounter that at the markets- right next to the som tam, and various bits of dead animals.

I can't think of a fouler smelling food than Isaan som tam.

Ok I admit the Isaan sausages smell good, I have been caught by them too many times, I don't do them anymore as I really don't feel you should piss your dinner out of your arse, the smell is good, the taste ok, but that is as far as it goes, I know Thais are quite happy to piss out of their arses, if they weren't they wouldn't eat somtam.

I've seen some real good ones, they look like real English sausages, the smell is great, still, it's just stuff thats gone off and will get you spraying brown pee out your arse, The locals like that.

I'm quite partial to the pork sausages, especially when they're loaded with garlic. With sausages of course, seek out the better vendors- trial and error really. It took me quite a while to partake of these again though, having seen maggots coming out of the end of some that were being grilled in our local village- at startling speed for a maggot.
