    Classic Forest Restaurant in Rayong

This is the Tamnanpa in Rayong easily accessible from the Sukhumwit highway. For reasons unbeknown to me they have no sign in english.
This is very nice spot to idle away a few hours while being pampered by the attentive staff.

Food is affordable and plentiful with the service being top notch and the setting is very special. It gives a whole new meaning to the term "Suan Aharn" Garden Restaurant. They also serve more special dishes, like crocodile and ostrich.

Entrance. My kids thought they were going to Jurassic Park on their first visit.

Massage and SPA available too for those so inclined.

    From the indoor restaurant.

Numerous fish in the small ponds including a 2 meter long Arapaima and a catfish almost as big. Black swans and duck inhabit these ponds as well.

A sign said the toilets were Sukaa Radap Lohk, world class. I found no reason to doubt that. First time I ever took a picture of a toilet.

Entire area is very well kept.
Should you find yourself in this general area, the Tamnanpa is highly recommended.

^ Apart from the USDA imported steaks (around 750 bht) I'd say the place is a bargain MeMock. I've been to Tamnanpar several times now, never had a bad meal.

Heres a link to a thread which covers two seperate visits to Tamnanpar:-

Yep, you can't go wrong at Tamnanpar/Classic Forest. One of my favorite places in Thailand, and certainly a highlight in Rayong. I've taken locals, expats and visitors there, and it never fails to impress.

I've never tried the farang food there, however. If you're looking for that, there's much better options in Rayong.

A nice place to spend the afternoon. Cocktails, grub, beer and massage on a recent visit:

    Bugger.

Lived in the region for a while and never found this little spot.

Might be up for a bit of a vacation down that way.

    Thanks for the info

FOK, just seen it's a bump by a dill.

Still, never mind. Any up to date info on this place?

With all the hooopla about the goodness of Tamnanpar's Classic Forest Resturant so nearby our house in Ban Chang, the bride and I decided to throw the MIL in the back seat of the SUV and take a ride down to Phe Muang (just East of Rayong City) on Friday evening and see what it was all about. Pics to follow as I will be posting them immediately.

The Entrance way to the Classic Forrest Restaurant was well presented in photos from both Pescator and Sabang, so I will not include mine. Nice pics by the way guys. I am going to include few shots of the plant and wildlife throughout the garden.

I found the grounds to be very pleasing and refreshing. The wildlife and the sounds of running water and birds were soothing. We arrived at 5:30pm so it was still light outside but within the garden, the shadows that were created for photographing were interesting. There is a natural spa and massage services available and we were advised that there will be some bungalow type rooms opening later this month. At 6:00pm, there is live music and they played easy listening and classics non-stop until at least 8:30pm when we left. The food was tasty and the price reasonable. We had the backed rice in pineapple, fried squid with garlic, some kind of bean salad, a seafood green curry, coconut shakes, several deserts and a large domestic beer for a total of 920 baht. The service was excellent for Thailand and the overall ambiance of the restaurant made for a very enjoyable evening. We will be going there again for sure in the not to distant future.

I would think that this would be a great place for a wedding reception as there are large covered open air rooms surrounded by gardens.

Here you go JJ. A brochure from the restaurant that we picked up last evening when we were there. Advise if your down in the area, are going to the restaurant and would like to meet up for dinner.

It is located on the north side of the roundabout near the station filled SunScan north of Sukhumvit. Take Sukhumvit through Rayong, left at Soi 55. Drive north to the roundabout, turn left at the roundabout, so they continue in the north, and is on the right side of the street as we make the change at the roundabout. Ollie Kanary Bay blows away or jungle. You can get meat imported from New Zealand for about 500 baht.
