    Pala Revisited (Again)

...lunch at our favorite Italian: Parma ham and burrata, tomato/garlic bruschetta, clams and mussels in Arrabbiata sauce, linguine in a sauce of nduja, guanciale, egg yolk and basil and, for dessert, the owner's wife's homemade gelato...hazel nut and chocolate...excellent! The Montepulciano added to the dining pleasure...

    Pub grub?

Pub grub is still a league above crisp sandwiches.

...new menu items at Pala: croquettas (flaked cod and seasoned mashed potato balls with an Arrabiata dipping sauce) and panzanella (a dried bread and tomato salad with a tantalizing dressing)...both tasty and very satisfying...

    Oh yes please madam.

I would guess that I am wrong when I say they look more mass produced, than made in-house.

My go to lunch in Jools bar, 2 fairly large ham and cheese croquettes, all set for the bell ringing.

    ^^You love potato anything, though.

3 oversized balls each seems like overkill.

...lunch today for two at Pala: tomato bruschetta, tuna tartare to start. Fregola with clams and mussels, ravioli with spinach and ricotta for mains and semi-freddo for dessert...the wine: Montepulciano.

We joined Tomcat at Pala today and it is everything he has said, the food, ambiance was all superb.

We started with a tuna tartare with guacamole lovingly drenched in lemon juice. Coupled with the house made bread, it was excellent. Personally, I could sit in the window of the restaurant with this and a cool refreshing Patroni and spent the afternoon people watching.

Next were the mains...all previously pictured, spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli, fettuccine with Italian sausage.

Lastly, fregola with clams and mussels

Dessert was a scoop of dark chocolate and a scoop of hazelnut gelato, the entire meal was excellent. Don't be fooled by the outside, where you can be mislead into thinking it's a bakery/pizza place....it's far, far, far more than that. We'll be visiting again at the beginning of our trip here next time rather the end.

Thanks again to our gracious host, Tom!
