    Pala Revisited (Again)

...lunch at our favorite Italian: Parma ham and burrata, tomato/garlic bruschetta, clams and mussels in Arrabbiata sauce, linguine in a sauce of nduja, guanciale, egg yolk and basil and, for dessert, the owner's wife's homemade gelato...hazel nut and chocolate...excellent! The Montepulciano added to the dining pleasure...

    Pub grub?

Pub grub is still a league above crisp sandwiches.

...new menu items at Pala: croquettas (flaked cod and seasoned mashed potato balls with an Arrabiata dipping sauce) and panzanella (a dried bread and tomato salad with a tantalizing dressing)...both tasty and very satisfying...

    Oh yes please madam.

I would guess that I am wrong when I say they look more mass produced, than made in-house.

My go to lunch in Jools bar, 2 fairly large ham and cheese croquettes, all set for the bell ringing.

    ^^You love potato anything, though.

3 oversized balls each seems like overkill.

...lunch today for two at Pala: tomato bruschetta, tuna tartare to start. Fregola with clams and mussels, ravioli with spinach and ricotta for mains and semi-freddo for dessert...the wine: Montepulciano.

Another thing that I loved about the place is its family owned and operated. It's a Italian/Thai family (mom and dad), the wife makes the gelato herself (she studied/lived in Italy for years), their daughter, who speaks Italian, English and Thai is the floor manager and the service is top notch. The bread is baked in house and they supply other places with there baked goods. There's a deli with a variety of cheeses and cold cuts, it's really a quiet, very nice homey place serving great food.
