I can taste that Paela by just looking at it, and it does taste 'average', but again why would you expect in Bangkok

it's like eating Cheese Raclette or Fondue in some local restaurant and expect a great food experience

kudo to Tom for trying those places, and reporting back, so we don't have to

Indeed. I enjoy all his restaurant reviews. Keep them coming Tom.

Over priced? Compared to prices in Spain of course. Compared to equivalent in Bangkok probably not.

Thai hookers in Paris are far more expensive than in Bangers Butters and not as good. Does not make them low value.

of course it does, in your years of staying too long in Thailand, have you lost all sense of logic and common sense?

In fairness, Paella should be served dry IMO. It looked good to me but the wife prefers lots of liquid...

I prefer it dryish too, that's the advantage of bomba rice, but it's still more usual to see it cooked in broth in a paella pan than baked. In fact I've never seen it baked.

I suspect they freeze it, and for each order, put a portion in the oven to reheat

if Gordon Ramsey was to visit that place, he would probably be throwing that paella into the face of the that restaurant owner and his chef while hurling insult to them

    I love Gordon Ramsay

Well the only way you gourmandes could accurately determine the authenticity would be to get along there and give us your opinion.

As it's baked it's clearly not authentic but that's not important, nobody expects authentic Spanish food in BKK. Tasting good is good enough. BTW, what do you think gourmandes means?

Ah, i think you've got it by jove and i agree that its that taste that counts. Taste counts a great deal in authenticity in my opinion as well as enjoyment.

    Really?

In pretty much any UK city you'd get absolutely top notch Spanish food, so why not a major metropolis like Bangkok?

Because the good Doctor is always right and he's bouncing from thread to thread ensuring the members know it. He's been investing considerable effort over the past month and one can only hope he doesn't end up proving DrBobs rule No14.
