Excuse me, I thought Norton's mash looked very nice.
Q.E.D.
Mate, this is the cheap and easy food thread ... none of that food snobbery here.
Just have some fun with the food, make it easy to prepare and cook.
Taste and quality aren't predeterminates.
As long as it passes the sniff test ... you're in :)
I'm waiting for enough left over veges for a bubble n squeak, maybe a toad in the hole
Difficult to replicate full stop i have found. Whilst I can and do cook many of her recipes they just don't taste the same or as good IMO.
Forgot that there was also as definite waste not want not thing, so Sheep brains, sweetbread and balls also appeared when visiting my uncles. One owned a pub in the middle of a farming community and they ran tabs and settled every few months, the interest was by way of 1/2 or whole sheep, pigs etc. They had an outhouse with 5 chest freezers. The land bordered a salmon and sea trout river and he let people fish it and would get a share.
EDIT
And the fun of picking lead shot out of roast duck and pheasant
I cant believe Chico was freed and had his rep restored and he still acts like the same asshole who was jailed. Pie in the sky dreams and all.

Walkies...
Wasn't sure what I wanted for breakfast this morning, so opened the fridge and spied leftover mash potatoes. Also had two Ol Folks "medium" sausage patties.
Fried up the sausage patties with 3 or 4 sprigs of fresh cilantro, 1 button mushroom sliced and diced into smal pieces, 3 or 4 slices of fresh ginger crushed and diced up, and 3 or 4 green onion tops snipped into the mix. Let the sausage patties cook a little then sliced them up into small pieces. Meanwhile took the 3 or 4 cups of mashed potatoes and added 1/2 cup of flour, 2 eggs, 2 heaping tablespoons of sour cream, salt and garlic pepper seasoning.
Added the sausage fry up mix into the potato mix, stirred all together thoroughly and fried them on the griddle:

Put three of those bad boys on my plate with a dollop of sour cream and a squirt or two of Huy Fong Rooster sauce:

Will pull the leftovers out of the fridge tomorrow and have in a pita with chicken, lettuce and tomato.
^Those look like garbanzo beans to me.
:chitown:
You also probably spell humour without the u and have never left your small country. :)
I won't eat the nasty things. Whatever they're called. Same for black-eyed peas.
Can't have humor without "U." Lately I haven't even left my small town. :)
Anyway, it was years before I learned garbanzo beans and chickpeas were the same thing. Me mum always called them the former. Didn't like hers either.
I'm now totally fucked on what are eggplants, courgettes, aubergines and ...I can't even remember the last one.
Capsicums. We will accept bell peppers.
Yesterday's sports watching snax.
